To weed out potential whiny applicants a CEO at a large corporation created a "snowflake test" with questions such as "how do you feel about guns?" And "what does 'privilege' mean to you?" Will this be effective in gaining better employees?

Could be very effective in his business. Just answer his questions truthfully. Otherwise you may be miserable if you get the job.

It will be effective at hiring conservative employees but I don't see how someone's opinion on guns has anything to do with efficiency

If they're trying to weed out people with empathy and critic thinking skills, I imagine it would be pretty effective.
