In his speech in Riyadh, President Trump condemned Iran and Islamist terror, praised military cooperation against the Houthis, Assad, and Daesh, and did not criticize the Arab states for their paucity of democracy or human rights once. Good message?
I don't like to criticize people for not hitting everything on my "to do" list all at once. He didn't mention some rather important points, but that doesn't mean what he said was bad. What he said was rather political and safe, and I support the tone of his message.
Like all US leaders....you walk a dangerous tightrope in Saudi Arabia. Overall, I think Trump acquitted himself well. He stayed on message, he was gracious and diplomatic...and keeping in Moslem tradition...he treated his wife like crap. I give him an A for effort and a B for overall performance so far.
Melania was shown a remarkable level of respect from the Saudis, and I am sure they were aware that our President expected it. How is that treating her like crap?
I'm no longer a Never Trumper. I approve of many of the things he does and I often speak out on this app to represent that approval. However, that doesn't mean I'm going to be silent when he does things that are wrong and problematic.
No, I didn't like the speech because he refused to call for democracy and human rights. He is abandoning America's exceptional duty to spread freedom around the world.
You just take on everything at once with these people. He did say to make the place safe from the terrorist who are running the people out of the country. are you sure you listen to the whole thing. Damn, it's not even 6 mos. Obama couldn't close Gitmo his whole two term. That was on hell of a promise.
I'm deeply disappointed that President Trump abandoned the cause of democracy and human rights. I anticipate that his demand to remove terrorists will likely be used by Arab states as an excuse to imprison and kill their political opposition.
