I come from a family of golfers. I myself am not very good and favor tennis. It is more athletic and cost less.

golf is the single most boring sport in the world. I'd rather watch paint dry on growing grass

I'm too crazy too play golf. I'd end up throwing golf clubs at people. And I'm not kidding. My brother in law plays and he won't teach me. I don't blame him lol. But I used to play tennis in the street as a kid. It was relaxing.

I play tennis, love the fact that I run in each direction you can image, stop on a dime, then get ready to hit a ball coming at your face!
I play a little golf, takes all day. Walking and hitting..the best part of my game, I can hit it straight.
After that......nada

Tennis is more fun to watch. Golf, to play, is just a four-letter synonym for frustration.

I'm not playing either, except for putt-putt, but if constrained and coerced, I can watch tennis. Golf isn't really a spectator sport. At all.

Wow I'm surprise by the results. I know the US is big with football (soccer), but seriously can't believe they aren't a big fan of tennis. I should just expect the opposite results from now on! The states flip flop! But it's cool ! I just don't find golf thrilling

As a golfer, I must say that golf is the same game that it was 400 years ago. I don't know how you can say it's evolving. Because clubs hit the ball further now?

DeathSheep Michigan

Ya the only thing I see evolving in golf if the clubs, much like the rackets in tennis.

Although it's the Old & Ancient, Golf continues to appeal to young & old, a beautiful HS senior daughter of a black family in our neighborhood, just won the Tennessee State golf championship & has a athletic/academic University scholarship , when I drive by Golf courses they are full, conversely, when I go by tennis courts they all are virtually empty, that's says a lot about the popularity of both. For the past 40 years, Tennis has become, a second tier sport. In my day, I was a better tennis player than golfer, so it's sad to see it's decline, along with my ability & desire to play both, but I still prefer watching golf.

Your right, the game of golf itself, hasn't changed that much in 400 yrs, but it's appeal in popularity & participation has long surpassed tennis.
