The DNC is launching a "Resistance Summer" plan, hoping that anti-Trump activism will expand their base. The plan also increases funds for state parties in AZ, KS, SD, MA, & MI. Is this plan more likely to expand the base or alienate more voters?

What do they think this is? 1968?

I guess so. And if that's true, 2020 will look a lot like 1972.

As a Democrat, I have to say that my party has been run by bozos for awhile but I certainly couldn't do any better.

The Dems are setting us up for a violent, destructive summer. America is tired of the politically motivated, pretended outrage, I plan to destroy them on line if it happens.

I say we should have a "Resist the Resistance" Summer! No violence – just MLK-style silent and strong assemblies of the people. Don't return violence for violence, or shouted obscenities for shouted obscenities. History shows that it is the victims of the violent that ultimately win.

That's how Trump won. The video of the Mexican flag and crazy protesters in Burlingame CA turned his campaign into overdrive.

Only the base would think it would expand the base.

It will probably do both. I'm old enough to remember when Obama took office and there was a resistance that went on for years after called the Tea Party. They held rallies, disturbed town halls, marched in the streets, and got really involved in the elections. When the midterm elections came, congress flipped to republican and many tea partiers gained seats. I don't see this as being much different.

This news heartens me. The more pernicious regressives double & triple down on hostility, anger, negativity, divisiveness, rancor, etc, the more easily ppl will be able to see - more & more clearly - the corruption & tyranny spewed toward anyone who fails to perfectly subscribe & embrace SJW/identity politics agenda & proscriptions.

I hope they have a FABULOUS summer of protesting & resisting! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

You can't expand your base when you have no one to rally around. Being against the President is not a platform.

What are they resisting:
Job creation, lower taxes, school choice, safe communities, closing the order to cut off heroin, infrastructure, healthcare!
These things need to get done, you should push for that, we all should....
Make the government work for a change..

Lower taxes (for billionaires, and massively increasing the deficit), infrastructure (we'll get around to it sometime, I swear), healthcare (that will kill a 9/11 attack worth of people every year)

RagingMystic covfefe

Cut of heroin and safer communities (by throwing more minorities in jail where they take jobs from manufacturing workers and give more money to billionaires)

I don't see a difference between the Dems doing this or the Reps doing the same thing. How much money is coming from the RNC to back people in all different states?

I guess it's not a problem if it's your side...

I'm just asking if people think that this strategy combined with the left's rhetoric will be effective in expanding the base. It is not a criticism, it's a question.

There's no way that Massachusetts will ever go red just like there's no way Arizona, Kansas, and South Dakota will ever go blue.

I remember that a while ago there was one poll that came out that said Elizabeth Warren isn't that popular in her state. And the republican governor in Massachusetts appears to be very popular from what I heard. I don't trust polls but that might be the reason now that I think about it.

The elections in 2016 and 2014 are also good reasons to never trust polls.

It would be smart if they had a plan that wasn't obstruct everything possible. Perhaps someone can present better ideas than Trump? I know, hard for Democrats.

This is a sure fire way for the Dems to lose even more elections in the near future. Spending money in deep blue Massachusetts is a waste of the party's funds. Preaching the Democratic Party's message of identity politics and creeping socialism, and Trumphobia to the solid red GOP strongholds of Arizona, South Dakota, and Kansas will only shift those states further to the right. And constantly resisting every move the president makes will easily turn off voters in the pro-Trump swing state of Michigan. RIP DNC.

The democrats seem intent in antagonizing and belittling the half of America that didn't vote for them. They'd do better to try to reach out to them and enlarge their tent - no further piss us off.

They seem to be pissing everyone off and are running to the fringe left. If this keeps up, 2020 will look a lot like 1972 for the Democrats.
