We have access to live in a 2000 square foot house on 32 acres for free for several years, but it is way too far away from anything, including jobs. Are there any work from home jobs that pay 60k?

Sorry... First thing that came to mind... Drug dealing. Grow house?

I live on 37 acres that are bought & paid for. Taxes cost me about $2500/year, so that's about as close to free as it gets... :) I /do/ commute 80 miles round trip to work, though...

That sounds awesome, except for the commute.

It is. I can only see my closest neighbors in the winter. I actually enjoy the drive - MUCH better than a 10 mile commute on Long Island (where we moved here from) or commuter train into NYC...

If you have access to high speed Internet there are options but watch out for scams. We have several people working from home.

You would probably have to accept some companies require the employees show up for meetings once in a while.

Some travel would be fine, do you have any openings for managers?

After looking at the other comments, my company may not be the right for your wife. We employ a lot of engineers and people at plants, but feel free to have a look. We have 568 open positions in the US alone as far as I can see.

I cannot filter by level, it has to be by function.

My comment was more a general comment that many companies accept people work from home, like we do. Yahoo used to, but I think they reduced it quite a lot. The financial industry should be well set up for that.

My husband and I have two good friends who work from home in some kind of civil service/army contract type jobs and they make six figures between them.

Would you need $60k if you have no mortgage to pay? What other expenses would you be willing to cut? If the answer is none, then I would advise you to pass up the offer.

Yeah, 60 is our ultimate goal. To survive, we'd need much less. We figure we'd really like to travel more, especially during the winter and 60 would make everything possible.

Yes you will commute but think of the money you can save.

That's one of the reasons we'd like to get out of where we are living now.

Do what's best for you and your family. If the acreage and getting away from people is what draws you take it. But 2000 sq ft isn't that big and living on one income is tough.

We've been on one income for four years, we're not scared of downsizing.

Haha do what makes you happy then. Finances rule my life. If I didn't have money I'd go crazy. But I'm also a city slicker and spend like its going out of style.

There are and I have one. However, it took me years of education and experience to get here. If you don't already have that type of job it's hard to get on short notice.

Business analyst for Oracle. My dad does that and makes ~80k a year working from home. The only thing about that is you have to have an accounting degree to get the job.

I can grow weed there, but I'm not sure if there's a market or how to go about it legally.

Do it illegally like all the cool kids

If it's legal there I would imagine you could probably call some local agency about it. I know people that do it here in Oregon or it's not totally legal.

It's legal to grow, not to sell.

I'm a stay at home dad, and my wife is an underwriting manager for a large bank. She's got all the corporate skills, so she's the one looking for the job. I'm more of the secluded artist type. I can make a great sales presentation if I had too though

www.bankrate.com/finance/personal-finance/10-best-and-real-work-at-home-jobs-1.aspx this has some good advice for finding legit jobs: only 1 out of 60 are legit and not scams. Grow some weed man, you can grow 6 plants legally.

High yield clones are not hard to find for 10-25 bucks. On a professional end, web page development or remote tech support seem to be the best jobs to do from home.

Since she has financial experience she could potentially do well with some accounting. Would be better if she can get her CPA though. I'm in NYC but I use a corporate CPA who is in Florida (she was in NYC then moved so she knows the NYC tax laws).

Also... Never too late to learn web development. :) If you're good with tech you can teach yourself. It's a saturated market, but there's also a lot of opportunities out there if you find a niche. Get high-speed Internet & you're all set. Good luck!

We have a few friends making that from home, but they have had no advice on how to get one. Now that we can get satellite Internet with reasonable speeds, it is now plausible to live out there if we can find a job that gives us enough money to travel

How far away from her job would it be?

MrLove lovers, dreamers and me

Three hours, each way...

It's 45 minutes to the closest city, woodland park. But, it has a population of 7k, so it's still a small town.

CAKE is good for the soul.

Maybe she could find something in that closer city that allowed her to work from home a few days a week, then commute the other days.
