Do you think President Trump actually pushed former FBI Director James Comey to end an investigation of former national security adviser Michael Flynn?

Discuss yes. Lean on him no.

Horrible question. Why can't we just wait and see what really happened. Same people calling for heads of Trump and anyone who supported him based on innuendo and circumstance completely ignored the pile of actual evidence against Hillary. If the worst people believe because they so desperately want it to be true is in fact true, he will go down. And rightly so. I just wish the same standard applied to democrats.

People ask for stuff all the time. They ask cops not to be given a speeding ticket when they deserve it. Asking in and of itself is not a crime. This is part of the witchhunt and it is getting so freaking tiresome. I almost wish that there was another election to trump can win again and people would realize that all this baloney is not helping their cause.

If Comey actually admits that, then Comey himself committed a huge crime by not reporting it at the time.

We don't know yet. It may have been implied or unconsciously convey by Mr. Trump. When Comey testifies before congress and gives his take on the conversation using his meticulous notes we will know more. Will this be a "smoking gun", I doubt if it will be enough. Congress will give the idiot in chief a pass on this one.

Of course not. Did he express a preference? Probably. Nothing wrong with that – First Amendment.

05/17/17 7:52 pm

Hahaha. So yet another anonymous source *reads* a supposed memo over the phone (doesn't even produce it and therefore the authenticity is unverified) to a "reporter" from historically anti-conservative/anti-trump newspaper who irresponsibly run with it...and that's all it takes to make the VAST majority (99% currently) of democrats believe Trump "pushed" Comey to end the Flynn investigation? Seriously? Lol. Come on have to realize why we call you "unhinged" by now.

Bill Clinton met with Loretta Lynch while Secretary Hillary Clinton was under investigation. Obstruction of justice? Where is the outrage here!!!

But neither Bill nor Hillary were president at that time. I'm not saying that that situation was not suspicious, but Tump's situation is a much bigger deal right now.

Yes, Trump is bringing this investigation on himself.

The real question is whether he meant to. Is he playing the media? I think he knows what he is doing.

05/17/17 5:40 pm

Comey would have had to report it immediately....this is just the Libtards trying once again...time for them to grow up and get over it.

valeriejo ramble on
05/17/17 5:43 pm

Report it to who.. The FBI ??

commonman1 Peace
05/17/17 5:46 pm

Here is what we do know.

Under the law, Comey is required to immediately inform the Department of Justice of any attempt to obstruct justice by any person, even the President of the United States. Failure to do so would result in criminal charges against Comey. (18 USC 4 and 28 USC 1361) He would also, upon sufficient proof, lose his license to practice law.

So, if Comey believed Trump attempted to obstruct justice, did he comply with the law by reporting it to the DOJ? If not, it calls into question whether the events occurred as the Times reported it.

05/17/17 9:02 pm

But does the DoJ have to disclose to US that he reported it to them? I don't believe so.

commonman1 Peace
05/18/17 6:07 am

With all this going on do you think they would not?

valeriejo ramble on
05/18/17 1:24 pm

From what I understand, the memo Comey wrote memorializing this possible obstruction of justice conversation he had with Trump, isn't just a scrap piece of paper or a diary, it's an official FBI document.. So wouldn't that be considered reporting it?

commonman1 Peace
05/18/17 1:29 pm

No it's a memo to himself about his conversation. Typical documentation. Not the same as reporting to DOJ. If anyone ever gets to read it. They may find out the reason it wasn't reported is because there nothing to reported. However, no one know but everyone speculates especially the left.

Gilgamesh muh wage gap
05/17/17 5:20 pm

The whole thing is being blown out of proportion by the media. Nobodies even seen the memo except for a couple of quotes that may or may not be true. Then you have the democrats running in circles screaming for impeachment.

05/17/17 5:15 pm

I don't like Comey, he let his political ideology cloud his actions during the election, helping Trump and hurting Clinton, and for that he deserved to be fired.

That said, I don't question his honesty. You can take his testimony to the bank. If he wrote it in a memo, it happened.

05/17/17 5:42 pm

By law he would have had to report it immediately...not write it down in case he was fired.

05/17/17 6:20 pm

Two points:

1. The statue of limitations, I believe, is ten years. So, there is no problem there.

2. He did report it immediately. The memo we are talking about isn't from Comey's personal diary. It is one of many memos, some classified, that Comey apparently wrote after every conversation with Trump. My understanding is that these memos are official FBI documents.

Why didn't Comey come forward immediately after witnessing a possibly criminal act by the President?

My guess is it's the same reason he gave a press conference to announce reopening the Clinton email investigation but never mentioned that the Trump campaign was being investigated.

Comey is a Republican with partisan sympathies and subconsciously or consciously didn't want to hurt a fellow Republican.

Which is why he deserved to be fired. He may not lie, but he doesn't play fair.

05/17/17 5:01 pm

Obama pushed Comey to end the investigation of Hillary.

05/17/17 4:59 pm

Democrats are pathetic. Keep it up. The country is sick of your shit. That's why you lost everything. House , senate, judge seats, Supreme Court. And all but 5 governor seats......your party is all but destroyed. Keep up the good work.

He's Donald Trump of course he did. We'll know more with this special prosecutor on the case.

05/17/17 3:13 pm

As someone who despises Trump I'm hopeful that impeachment proceedings don't take place. We need this clown car to keep rolling through the mid term elections. It's not only the best opportunity to flip the House and Senate, it's the best thing to happen to democrats in state legislatures. We need to flip a few of those prior to the 2020 census so republican jerrymandering can be scaled back. Trump is single handily doing more for opposition research against the GOP than all of the progressive groups combined. The dems must use Trump strategically.

Why? He could claim his notes were part of the ongoing investigation. Nothing about that would get him in trouble. And besides, Trump didn't do anything wrong, so why would Comey be in trouble. Right?

If you look at what the memo supposedly said, obviously no. He said,

“I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go,” Mr. Trump told Mr. Comey, according to the memo. “He is a good guy. I hope you can let this go.”

If he believes everything he's seen on Fox News, then he probably thinks Obama did the same thing to the Benghazi hearings. So I think it's possible he thought asking the FBI director to drop a case was perfectly standard.
