"Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards." Soren Kierkegaard. As I've gotten older & more experienced, I've realized how true this is. If only we knew when we were 20 what we know now, the mistakes we could've avoided!

I don't want to forget them, as that's how you learn. I just wish I could go back and UNDO them and start over, doing things better! Lol

Agree, but we would find new mistakes to make.

Maybe so, but if we could go back while retaining all the knowledge we have now, maybe not. I can hope, anyway! Lol

My past screw ups seem to be returning to memory as I age. I sometimes question my sanity now that I can look back. If I had known then what I know now, I would be rich.

I'd be a lot happier, better off financially, and with less regret! Lol

I wish I had been able to see the mistakes I would make with others and with my children, so I could've prevented them.

Yup. If only I could have known what mistake I would make before the sperm part of me even came into existence.

Experience is a great teacher, if you are smart enough to learn from it...

Nope. If you already know the answers, if you don't make the mistakes you learn from, it isn't living, it's just going through the motions. The joy of seeing everything for the first time more than makes up for the inevitable mistakes we make while living the adventure.

I agree, but that doesn't negate anything 4jc said.

I meant it to though. Knowledge isn't understanding. Life's lessons can only be learned and fully understood through experience. Even if you could have known at 20 what you know now, and somehow still know what you know now having avoided the mistakes (avoided living), it seems like missing out on all of that would be the biggest mistake you could make.
