That's pretty much always been the case for me. I've lived in neighborhoods where there were other Indian people but we were still definitely the minority
Yes, when I was still living in San Diego, California. The town I lived in during my first 2 and a half years of high school was Latino-majority. They were mostly Mexicans. The high school's demographics were similar to that of the town.
Yes. Most of the years since 1968, I was a racial/ethnic minority in my neighborhood - more often in a larger region of the city I lived in. In one town it was just within the apartment building I lived in, and the graduate school school & working environment I was in, but not town itself. In one college I saw only one other person of my race all day, for a year.
That all changed when I retired and moved to my current state, town and neighborhood almost 6 years ago; I'm now part of the majority. I miss the richness of diversity of cultures in my everyday life.
My neighborhood is mostly white people, but my school was mostly latinos and blacks. So I guess I've never lived in a neighborhood where I'm a minority, but I'm familiar with the feeling. It never bothered me
Sort of. When we lived in Memphis there were many more black people in my zip code compared to any other group, but my block was about 50-50 between white and black. My neighbors one either side were black. We got along fine. I miss them all.
We used to have all white peoples living in my neighborhood but a couple months ago some African Americans moved into the house that was for rent and the strange thing is that there have been a lot more police calls to our neighborhood. We never see the police called to my neighborhood until they moved in.
