A 10-year-old girl in India who was raped repeatedly by her stepfather will probably be forced to give birth because of the country’s highly-restrictive abortion laws. Should the United States also make abortion illegal for 10 year old rape victims?

Did you vote yes or no? Your comment is equally applicable either way.

Let me know your thoughts when a female close to you gets raped and is forced to have the child. We will talk at that time.

I think a woman who had recreational sex and got pregnant should have access to safe, legal abortion.

Let's discuss what accounts for less than 1% of all rapes instead of the lack of personal responsibility that accounts for the vast majority.

Let's. After all, it should be easy for us to agree that the Indian girl should be allowed to terminated her pregnancy.

It shouldn't be that difficult to get the message across to people that they should be more responsible sexually so that they don't go seeking an abortion for an unwanted pregnancy.

Agreed, but your point is irrelevant in the case of a father raping his 10 year old step daughter, which is what we are discussion.

But liberals like to use a scenario like this as a gateway to justify making a bigger argument.

So yes she should be able to terminate or no?

What happens to the person that raped her?

MrsCrayonWax

I don't know Indian law but I know what should happen to him.

And I know that people should not be having sex until they're ready for a baby.

P, leaving the impression a ten year old rape victim CHOSE to get pregnant? That's repulsive, even if it doesn't reflect your real opinion and I can't believe it does.

A ten year old chose to be raped? Have sex? All of the above? I'm not sure why you can't answer the question. Is it because you can't? Is it because you are conflicted?

I am not implying at all that a 10-year-old made a choice.
I am saying that teenagers should not be having sex and adults should not be having sex unless they're ready to have a baby.

It is actually a pretty well-known statistic and unfortunately human nature. Personal responsibility sucks.

thatguy2 I am pro-life which means I am value life and apparently value life more than the pro-choicers.
I will say that I am less likely to object to the 10-year-old's abortion than I am to object to the 20-year-old that got pregnant due to a one night stand.

Thank you for proving my case and have a nice day.

The vast majority of abortions are due to a lack of personal responsibility.
Let's fix that.
If you're not onboard, i'm sorry you don't value life.

MrsCrayonWax

Let's fix it. Let's offer comprehensive sex ed so kids are fully aware of the consequences of sex, better prepared thus reducing abortions.

ptellini Homosuperior

Make abortions less available so they are inclined to care more.

Well I value life and criminalizing abortion will only result in kids posting YouTube videos on how to do DIY abortions.

ptellini Homosuperior
05/16/17 11:13 am

Is that really your argument against criminalizing it?
People will post stuff on YouTube regardless.
Having to even have this discussion is sickening. I am standing up for the most vulnerable and innocent of life.

MrsCrayonWax
05/16/17 11:17 am

No. That's not my sole argument. It's just a point I'm illustrating.

And who is watching out for the 11, 12, 13 year olds getting pregnant? What about those kids? Because they are still kids. This isn't just an abortion debate. It goes well beyond that.
