Have you grown disillusioned and dissatisfied with both political parties?
Politicians have always been corrupt and always will be. It is impossible to change either party.
Yes. A few years back. I'm a registered independent.
No, just the democrats
They're both full of idiots who think they're better than everyone else.
Should've picked Bernie
Registered Independent here!
Yes, one reason I am a communist
Yes and that's why I voted Trump! 👍🇺🇸
What party is he a part of, exactly?
I want to see Green Party and Libertarians grow and be more influential.
I keep saying that if a third party couldn't gain any traction during this past election, when we had 2 candidates that were so despised, then they never will.
Holy cow yes
Yes. Years ago.
Both parties are awful. Partisanship is the sole source for the failings of this country. Imagine if people were more concerned with the American people rather than those who fall under their party affiliation.
Yes, but the one WAAAAYYY more than the other. I'm about done with GOPerticians whining about being "troubled" or "concerned" every day by the latest dumbassery de jour by their troll doll in chief, while voting to support said "troubling" and "concerning" dumbassery 98% of the time.
Yeah. Last night. A close relative felt sick but had to wait to get healthcare b/c their plan didnt cover urgent care. I thought "thanks obama" then realized republicans didnt do shit to help either.
Neither party stands for smaller government anymore. I'd vote 3rd party, but I am SO anti-Democrat that I hold my nose and vote Republican most of the time. Not that it matters in this liberal state anyway.
You sound similar to most Arizonans. Independents outnumber both Republicans and Democrats in the Grand Canyon State. However, most political independents in Arizona skew heavily to the right because most of them are disillusioned former Republicans who think that the party has become too moderate and too pro-government. Most of these independents are hardcore conservatives who hold their nose and vote Republican, which is why the GOP still dominates Arizona politics at both the state and federal levels.
Same. The republicans are idiots, but I gotta pick the lesser of the 2 evils.
They've deteriorated past funny : (
I "grew" disenchanted with them a long time ago!
Yes, but unlike many people I actually vote 3rd party
Who did you vote for in 2016?
Gary Johnson...even though I wasn't enamored with everything about him. He was still the best candidate running
Ron Paul in 2012
Would you consider voting Trump in 2020?
I'd consider anyone. But as things are going I don't see myself supporting him in 2020 either. But I always keep an open mind
Unless Trump stops trying to be George W. Bush 2.0, I probably won't vote for him in 2020 either. He needs to move back towards the nationalism and populism that got him elected in order for him to win my vote back in the next election cycle.
Just remember that the Supreme Court would be leftist right now if Hillary had won.
I'm very aware of that fact.
Yes, over 20 years ago.
No, just the Democrats, but right now I am concerned about the RINOS and their tendency to jump ship!
RINOs are still controlling the party right now.
McCain never has actually been a Republican.
Yes. Right now
To an extent.
Replace 'both' with 'all'.
I am extremely dissatisfied with both parties, which is why I will now switch my SOH party identification to Independent. The GOP is still controlled by Paul Ryan and the neocons (whom I despise) and the Democrats are Allinsky-worshipping, anti-American, leftist zealots. I voted for Trump because I viewed him and his ideology as a mix between the paleoconservatism and nationalist populism that I have long wanted the GOP to move towards, but the neocons in D.C. are influencing him enough to the point where I'm starting to feel more and more betrayed by his administration (especially on immigration, healthcare, trade, and foreign policy). I will still remain a registered Republican outside of SOH so that I can still be eligible to vote in the primaries, but at this point, my style of conservatism is not aligned with the interests of the GOP. I'm out.
Trump just said a bunch of things people like you wanted to hear so he could get elected. He used a ton of "buzz phrases" to con people into voting for him. If someone has to say "believe me" as often as he does to get you to believe him, he's lying. That's an old used car salesman tactic. Sorry you're frustrated with the parties. I have been for a long time. They're only there to look out for themselves, not the people they're suppose to represent.
I have not made a final verdict on Trump yet. I'm still willing to give him more time because I realize that it is still very early on in his presidency. However, I will say that he is not off to a very good start, at least in my opinion. Only time will tell if things start to change for the better over the next 3 years. For me though, I'll probably know by this time next year whether or not I will vote for Trump again. If he actually does end up fulfilling his key campaign promises, then I'll vote for him again in 2020. If he ends up being another Bush-style establishment neocon, then I will either vote third party or not vote at all, depending on my options.
Republicans are still spineless and Democrats are still crybabies. I don't like either side.
Agreed. See my comment above.
I feel the same way. Maybe not as extreme, but Ryan & Co. certainly don't represent me.
I believe you. Ryan and the rest of the GOP establishment don't represent most conservative Americans or Americans in general.
Yep. Went from hardcore Republican to independent within the span of a year
I'm still a hardcore conservative, but I no longer see myself as a Republican.
gluxford, are you Independent on Show of Hands now?
We should all send a brick..I think it would be an awesome message..
Yes, I am an Independent on SOH now. The only reason why I'm not one in Arizona is because this state is a closed primary state, which means you can't vote in political primaries unless you are registered with one of the two major parties. If Arizona eventually becomes an open primary state, I would switch my registration to Independent in a heartbeat.
McCain needs to go bye bye in your state..
I agree. Jeff Flake needs to go too.
