If you believe that Robert E Lee should be removed from Southern States because of Slavery, should we remove other Founding Fathers who owned slaves from having their own memorials too?
Yes and no one should drink Coke as the inventor was a confederate

Shouldn't remove any of it
Lincoln wanted to ship blacks back to Africa. Should we tear down the Lincoln memorial?
Lee didn't own slaves
It's different about what there celebrating. We are celebrating for the founding fathers for there non Slavery related accomplishments whereas for Robert e lee they are specifically celebrating his Defence of slavery.
Only the ones that led rebellions and/or committed acts of treason against the US
The difference is that Lee was a military general while the founders were political terrorists.
Burn the books!
Libs are erasing history...just like muslims destroying statues in Christian churches and erasing that history.
With the possible exception of WWII, the Civil War has had more history written about it than any other conflict. There is so much history, there is actually more analysis of the history than there is history of most other wars.
I don't know why the statue is being removed. He is an important figure in American history. If we removed all historical displays of persons who were a product of their times and not perfect in today's eyes, then we lose all connections with our past. Both the good and bad.
Different ; ) 🐂💩
Founding fathers won their war. The confederacy lost. Why celebrate the losers?
Because the loosers had a point. And they didn't loose so badly that they weren't around to let the winners lie about what really happened.
Owning slaves is morally reprehensible regardless, but there is a difference between actively fighting to preserve slavery (Lee) and quietly allowing it through inaction (Founders). I also think a minority of the Founders might have opposed slavery, but the Southern states wouldn't have been on board with the Constitution if it had prohibited slavery.
psst, neither did the rest of the 37 non-original states, what's your point?
yet you refuse to point out the flaw?
what do you mean by that? because there were definitely states in the south, virginia being chief among them. And they definitely wouldn't have ratified a constitution that prohibited slavery. so what do you mean that there weren't southern states?
that doesn't address peace keepers argument at all... or really anything in this conversation...
"History is written by the victors."
- Winston Churchill
Trust me, once whites become a 20% minority in our own country by 2100 they'll start tearing down all monuments of white men.
Wrong! The BLM will burn down national monuments if they keep going at this rate in 2020.
And here we have a perfect example of idiocy followed by a slightly smarter idiot.
So can we remove that slavery even happened?
Oh please...don't give them too many ideas. Pretty soon, Malcolm X will replace the Jefferson Memorial.
I wouldn't be surprised. They are already replacing Andrew Jackson.
That's because Jackson was a genocidal maniac.
