Let's try to be objective here, American SOH users...which country has given us better rock music: Great Britain or the USA? (UserQ)
As much as I love Elton and The Beatles, they are not rock. Sorry. And modernity speaking, American rockbands are far superior.
The London Olympics closing ceremony was the best mix of music I've ever heard (besides One Direction). I'm an American and GB is superior in music, but not space travel. Mars, bitches!
uhh...james marshal hendrix. speaking of Canada...RUSH!!
Queen, pink Floyd, led zeppelin, the who, the Beatles, the rolling stones, and so much more. It's not even close. The rock in the us would be nowhere without gb
I love areosmith, guns n roses, Elton John, billy joe, electric light orchestra, Boston, blue oyster cult, America, and more, but the Beatles top all.
I'm a huge Sex Pistols fan, but Maeriva takes the cake on this one
Screw the beatles. They suck. Give me aerosmith, metallica, even Springsteen before them. And as far as Elton John goes. I'll take Billy joel myself.
Germany. Blind Guardian, Rammstein, and In Extremo are all amazing.
Pick britian. I hate britin, but it's true The Beatles exist for a reason.
Great Britain provides the best music ever. No doubt about it.
@Hatsune, having mentioned Ween repeatedly, I should mention their collaboration with Boredoms, Z-Rock Hawaii!!!
I don't really listen to US or British rock. . . I listen to Japanese Rick though!
If a poll choice is "USA", a majority of Republicans will invariably select it.
@MchaMp, the only rock the Brits made was prog rock. I think it's due to their love of theater (just look at their TV shows). Pink Floyd, (Gabriel) Genesis, Jethro Tull, that's just off the top of my head, but that's what they invented.
Heart came from USA and do did Boston do my vote was USA
@beatlesrock- first of all- I love you just because of your name. (not in a weird way, just sayin') Secondly- you put it perfectly. Thank you.
@Aliascool Elton John IS rock!! He has put out ballads and rock songs that Metallica couldn't even DREAM of!!! Yeah I'll get hate but I don't care
The Beatles FTW
A lot of comments for this question.
Canada is up there too.
Led Zeppelin, that is all.
The Beatles, The Who, AND The Rolling Stones? Brits win hands down.
Brits. Made rock music.
Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen, Yes, Deep Purple, Rainbow, Saxon, Motorhead, Rolling Stones, Cream, Eric Clapton, Beatles. Need more? I love American rock music but the Brits invented modern guitar rock.
I love The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd, but Aerosmith, Metallica, and Lynyrd Skynyrd are my favorites.
That is a period people!
I think Richmond said it best. The Beatles.
Elton John? Rock?ha! METALLICA is rock.
@DiJitiL, my bad, I thought Sid was.
How could I forget ELO?! Such a great band!
But I also like Bonjovi
The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Queen <3
FrankZ, who on the Sex Pistols was American?
Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Arctic Monkeys, David Bowie, ELO, The Clash, Queen, Mumford and Sons, and many more. British music is where it's at.
The Sex Pistols second most recognized member is an American junkie, they're UK.
The Band has only one American member (also their best singer), but has backed only Americans (including that drummer), they're American. Suck it Canada.
Can has an American and Japanese singer, but they're German.
Led Zeppelin is all British. I should know, I'm Frank Zappa.
What about mixed bands like Led Zeppelin? Do we go by the lead singers race?
The UK gave us the Beatles and Rolling Stones, America gave us LMFAO. No contest.
And since we're talking England and America here- I have to put something in about Canada to stir things up- BRYAN ADAMS! Okay, I'm done.
Not a problem.
@Frank- Well, Paul's still around. And Ringo. But I agree that John and George should still be around.
Okay. Thanks. Sorry. I'm kind of out of it so I'm getting mad at stupid stuff. Plus, I have to defend my British pride. And I'm glad you don't care. I'm just saying people like him when they don't know, so it doesn't matter whether he is or isn't.
