My dog is sitting on the driveway with lightning and thunder all around us. For those of you with dogs, Is your dog afraid of lightning and thunder?

One of my dobie is afraid she is a flack sucker too so I give her a stuffed toy to carry around, During storms she goes and gets in her crate with her teddy bear. The shepherd being retired police dog could care less about anything

Except strangers, she will place herself in between us and them

I am very lucky to have a dog that is not afraid of storms. I have an app i played ever since he was a puppy. The app simulates thunderstorms. I would leave it on at night and when I was not at home. He is not afraid of fireworks either.

That is sad. I guess you keep your dog inside during a storm.

Yes I don't think I could drag him outside. He usually they goes to my room where the downstairs bathroom and shivers. This year during the fireworks he actually stayed by my daughter and I. I had my grandkids over the other day.

Mallard is totally fenced in. I told him to go outside and stay with the kids. He spread his front legs way apart. His stubborn look. I told him about four times go outside with the kids. I finally gave him the count out one he hung his head.

Very dejected and went outside to be with the kids. Never knew you could do a count with the dog at least he did on one.

One of my four dogs freaks. The others are unaffected.

You would think the one would pick up on the energy of the others.

Yes....it was a new addition to the 3...a rotty rescue. The others just never cared. Seems big dogs more effected. My golden did the same thing when alive.

My Brittany doesn't care about storms and will sleep through fireworks. But if any dog starts barking he has to bark too.

Jabba was sitting on the driveway watching the neighbors set off their fireworks in front of my house on the fourth. He only barks to call other dogs or their owners over to pet him and play.

My pit is lol, you can tell when a storm's coming because she starts shivering and likes to go into the bathroom. Once the storm actually hits, she pants heavily and freaks out if left alone... She's destroyed doors before from being locked in a room

That is real sad. I wish I could work with these scared dogs. I believe I could get them to be unafraid.

We are storming now. My pups are used to it because I always like to sit out on stormy nights, and they go where I go.

Cool! Yeah, Jabba doesn't spook easily. When he does, I take the time to introduce him to whatever he seems to be skittish about, like the vacuum or big trash can. Now he just lays there and ignores it.

Thunder terrifies my 100lb Labrador retriever. She shakes violently, hides under tables or comes near us & basically sits in our laps. My autistic son has a weighted blanket & putting that on the dog helps (son handles storms fine).

Have you seen these vests that are supposed to help dogs feel more comfortable about what scares them? It is like a security vest.

I don't have a dog, but Max, our neighbor's dog, is frightened to death of them. He will chase my car down the street in order to be with somebody when it's thundering.

Yup. My two babies are. Kinda funny how both (cockatoo and chihuahua) have to be by me at all times when stormy. So cute
