Is God tired?
If there is a god, I'm sure god would be. Multiple? Hmm.. Not so sure. That's assuming we are cared about by said god.
I think God has been frustrated with Humans. I think that is why he let's us have the choice to follow him. He tried to show him self to people the first go and they kept falling away.
So the Earth and all that is in it is more then enough info to belive. It is your choice to belive or not.
Ah, religious questions. How stupid.
Please unfollow me. I really don't want mindless junk comments like yours in my polls.
I would believe God is more pissed than tired!
Can pigs fly?
Can pigs buy plane tickets?
That's a big question to ask a Mormon.
Bigger for Mormons than for other people?
Well, since we believe that God has a body of flesh and bones, perhaps.
Technically I guess Catholics would too since there are no verses in the Bible saying that Jesus ditched the body post-resurrection, right?
According to Luke 24:50-52 and Act 1:9-12 He ascended into heaven.
Are you one of those Mormons who get angry and starts to break stuff when people ask for clarification on Mormon beliefs?
Ha ha. No. Just be respectful. :-)
Does ascension mean that he got rid of the resurrected body?
Do Mormons believe God resides on Kolob?
Ascension means that he rose to Heaven, body and soul on His own. Slightly different than Enoch, Elijah, and Mary, who were assumed into Heaven, which means they went body and soul, too, but God did the heavy lifting.
I'd assumed that Mormons would believe in the ascension as well, since its biblical.
And I'm surprised that Mormons believe God has a body, since Jesus said He did not. But not trying to start a holy war with you over it.
That's a good one. We laugh about that one too. Well, maybe sorta. Just as the Earth's time is governed by the Sun, or it is "reckoned" by the Sun, and the Sun's gravity controls the Earth, we believe that the universe is ordered even further.......
.....so the Sun would be under the gravitational pull of a greater body, and so and so forth. We don't believe that "order" exists only in our solar system and everything else is just floating aimlessly outside of God's control. So Kolob is the .....
..... Is the name of the higher, governing body. Very little is said about it in scripture so there's really nothing else that I can answer about it.
Yes, we believe he ascended to Heaven.
I'm surprised that you draw a distinction between God and Jesus. I thought Catholics believed He was the very same intelligence.
Then more to the point, if you believe God has a physical body, is that physical body somewhere in the universe, or He outside of the universe.
We believe in the trinity.
He he. I don't know where He is right now. I bet He moves around. We don't believe that He's everywhere all at the same time though.
Hey okie, have you heard the good news?
What's that Satire?
So if God isn't omnipresent, do you still believe He is omnipotent or omniscient?
Last one, do you believe in the existence of other gods, anywhere or in anyway, both on God's level, but also inferior and superior to God?
These are questions that I have asked other Mormons, but the discussions usually deteriorate as they try to proselytize me and I'm put in a position of refuting their beliefs rather than just hearing about them.
But, they're family, so it doesn't get too heated.
All powerful and all knowing, yes. Other Gods? Kinda. We don't believe that we're a science experiment and that we were created to be play things for a bored God. We believe that when He said we were created in His image that that's true
...we believe that humans are literal children of God - not just figurative children of God. So we view Earthly existence as a development stage and that since we're true, literal children of God then we have capacity that could somebody .......
....someday be considered "God-like."
I hate arguing religion and refuse to debate it, but I like hearing about what people believe. Btw, I really like Catholics too. They and us are two steady bulwarks against the ever-increasing societal decay (gay marriage, abortion, etc).
I agree- there is a lot of difference and incompatibility between Catholic and Mormon theology, but our values line up pretty well.
None of this was in the Book of Mormon!
It is so refreshing to see a calm and grown up discussion. Good job guys!
He rested on the seventh day...
Yeah, but he's been working on things since then. He dabbled in egyptian politics for a while, had a baby...
Yes - He's growing more and more tired of watching us humans murder innocent babies in the womb, accepting homosexuality and even transsexualism as "normal," hating others because of inborn characteristi s like skin color, and dragging His Name
through the dirt from which He lovingly made us. And He won't be patient forever.
I like how you follow advocating intolerance of homosexuality by saying we shouldn't be hating others for inborn characteristics.
Veritas used to mean truth. The truth is, there is NO evidence whatsoever that homosexuality is biologically caused. If it were, gays couldn't become straight, but the CAN and DO. It is a behavioral choice to act on temptations that may occur for
many reasons. We also have Scriptural evidence that it's a choice, because it would not be clearly condemned as an abomination to God in both the Old and New Testaments.
Please, veritas, live up to your username and line up with God's Word of Truth.
Even if it is a choice, they deserve acceptance.
Homosexuality has been observed in over a thousand species of animals, "scriptural evidence" is an oxymoron, and if those who choose between hetero- and homosexuality are bisexuals. No one would choose to be discriminated against by society.
Inge - I totally agree. I have nothing against homosexuals. I do, and must as a believer, hate the sin of homosexual behavior, just as I hate stealing or murder. But we've all sinned, and we all deserve to be loved and told the truth. I have friends
who are gay, and they know I love them though I can't approve of their behavior. I believe Jesus died to save sinners, and I know gays can be forgiven and healed, just like any of us. :-)
Veritas, by saying that "Scriptural evidence" is an oxymoron, you prove that the Truth is not in you. I'm very sorry to know that. Some day, God may open your eyes to reality. +++
Oh, and the behavior of animal species has no relation to humans because they weren't created in God's image as we were.
But you're an evolutionist, so this won't matter to you.
If he's tired of us accepting people as people he can go screw himself.
