I only said "yes" because I felt like these questions were intended for a point you are making... So yes is correct for 7" and no for 12"?

Wrong, 7" is totally ok according to the TSA website

I think it's ok provided it is snugly secured between your cleavage. Butt or boob, your choice. LOL

You need to quiz Broncomark. He's TSA.

80% of people are mistaken.

Better throw away your soda and buy a $5 one past security.

That's because most vital organs are 3 inches beneath the skin.

Screwdrivers may be only specifically prohibited above 7", but if it has more than a 3 inch shaft, a 5 inch screwdriver is still a dangerous object or some other such nonsense.

The TSA website says " 7 inch screwdrivers are acceptable for carry on" it makes no statement as to dimensions if handle and shaft.

The big pile of stuff confiscated by the TSA said they are not.

You don't seriously give those bottom of the barrel goons that much credit do you?

The question was whether you could bring them on a plane. If the "bottom-of-the-barrel goons" confiscate it–rightfully or wrongfully–you can't bring it on the plane.

If they aren't even bright enough to know their own standards does anyone think they're ANY level of deterrent?

Well, it's not like they can confiscate the part that makes the plane not blow up. That and the bomb-sniffing technology/dogs are pretty effective.

I've used the explosive detection technology in the military, that they also use in the airports (Smiths Detection is a happy group of folks I can tell ya that), and the machines are WORTHLESS. The DoD stopped using them. Dogs are fairly effective.
