Do you consider yourself to be a feminist?

It has a pretty bad connotation to it. I'm all for equal opportunity.

I grow up in an atmosphere that supports either gender being the breadwinner so it's not such an issue here as it is elsewhere.

Not at all. As a female, I generally think it's stupid.

I like the core idea of "gender equality" that feminism is based on. Not the current feminist attitude of "We're better than men! You should do stuff for us but still pay us equally" crap that it twisted into.

Women demanding equal pay are just digging their own graves, anyway!

I feel like I've always been slightly more feminist than most people that I grew up around, but I did grow up in Alabama, so it's understood if a woman wants to be the breadwinner, but it's also understood if she wants to be traditional...

Part of me thinks that women are just as capable and as strong as men, but part of me thinks that women shouldn't be treated as completely 100% equal. Maybe like 99% equal...

It hit a nerve when my boyfriend told me that they don't allow women on the front lines in the military. My thoughts were "I'm sure some women can handle a gun just as well as men! Despite popular beliefs, some women can also handle the brutality...

..of war!" Then he informed me it was because enemy soldiers would target women specifically, and that if captured, they're usually treated in much more immoral ways than the way men are treated. So, I kind of understand that... Sorry for rambling.

That's interesting. Thanks for sharing that; I wasn't aware of that line of reason.

Yeah that was really interesting. I never really looked at it from that angle before!

I am a moderate feminist. I'm VERY pro-women.
I support those feminists who are seeking better treatment of females and equality, but the outlying extremists give feminists a bad name. If I supported them-I would be a slave...Outside of the bedroom.

No, I barely have any feminine qualities until more recently lol. I don't care that much, some women take it too far and that just pisses me off.

Really, now? ;D NO feminine qualities?

Haha I have some now :b I used to be THE biggest tomboy when I was younger. Until more recently the past year or so I've tried to develop my more... Feminine side. I feel like I suck at being a girl though.

Well, I think you're amazing just the way you are - girly girl or not (which in your case happens to be not, hehe)! ❤☺

Since my daughter has been born I'm more attentive. I have always hated the fact that crimes against women and children are so lightly treated. Too me rape is worse than murder.

I fully support feminism as it pertains to achieving equality. When it approaches affirmative action/forced discrimination in nature, I withdraw my support.
