Tonight through tomorrow night is "Tisha Ba'av", an ominous day in Jewish history. On this day Jews fast for 25 hours like Yom Kippur. Have you ever fasted for 25+ hours with no food or drink?
I've gone without food 5 days. I needed water to endure that.
Omg, 5 days? Was it by choice?
Yep. I'm about to start a longer one haven't decided how long yet.
It's a great way to connect with God.
Starve my flesh to feed my spirit.
r3- I'm honestly so fascinated by this. How do you prepare? Do you take time off from work? What do your parents think?
A book if recommend "your appointment with God" by Gwen shaw. It has some good info on fasting.
I didn't take any time off. Day 2 is the worst.
After day 3 it gets easier.
Spent lots of time in worship and prayer.
I'm an adult so my parents aren't involved in the decision.
To take prescription meds I'd eat a few pieces of dry cereal. I had some juice avoid dairy.
Do life normally that's what important.
I'm doing a 2 week fast aka til the end of July. No solid food, soda, television/movies, and no dairy.
I will drink juice. I also have crystal light energy (one per day to help with caffeine withdrawals).
I can't imagine being able to focus on work when your body was so unhappy.
I admire your strength but 2 weeks is too long. Maybe 7 days. Have you already started this next fast?
Started today. You can do it. There are several types of fasts.
Ok, let me know how you're feeling once in awhile, ok?
Sure. Water is key. I'll drink maybe 4-5 bottles a day maybe more. (32oz)
I guess you'll spend a lot of time in the bathroom over the next two weeks :-D
