Do you tithe?
What a racket.
We did when we belonged to the church, but then Election Day came and I discovered that "the church" had political opinions and they were not in line with mine (not that that should matter - churches should not politic from the pulpit) so we left
And took our tithes with us. Now we just donate to charity
Did you have theological differences, or just political?
I had some theological differences with the denomination, but not with what was preached at the church on a regular basis except for a few issues, on which on knew I felt different. The problem really was a political rally that told me I could vote
For the Republican ticket or the devil essentially. It was okay though. I needed to learn that one should place their faith in God and not in people, which was a lessen I had needed to learn for a long time. It worked out and I found another
Church to attend when I need church, but we are need members, so we do not tithe - we do donate when we attend
Interesting. I'm Baptist, so we strictly avoid politics in the service. What denomination were/are you?
Both churches - the one I left and the one I go to now are very conservative Assemblies of God
I am VERY liberal but I love the fact that they believe in the speaking in being in the sprit and in Pentecost. I don't believe in no dancing, men and women not being able to be in the same room, and I'm pro-choice
We tithe 10% of what we bring in.
