Are there any words that you use on a daily basis that your phone, email, or document spelling/grammar check consistently marks as wrong even though you are correct in your spelling/use?
I recently turned my auto correct off. Was such a pain in my asss
My job has lots of acronyms (govt job), so constantly in my work email, then on my phone w/ my husband because we have our own insane language.
hw. Is there a different way to abbreviate "homework" that I don't know about??
No if it says I'm wrong it's usually right.
I am the worlds worst speller so I don't know;)
Where and were
Inupiaq. Not the same as Inupiat, auto cucumber.
I don't use it daily, but autocorrect hates when I write "Brasil"
duck. shut. ashore. birch.
You can figure out for yourself what those are supposed to be.
I use "Herro" instead of "Hello" with my Asian friend, and will correct me to hello, then hero, then it will finally work
My last name: Dobrofsky. My phone learned the spelling, but my computer always marks it.
I swear it changes "are" to "ate" on me all the time. That has caused some awkward texts. :)
The iPad changes "its" to "it's" and "were" to "we're" all the time without regard to context. I don't even notice it any more, I just let it be wrong.
I forgot about that one.
The were we're screws with me all the time.
"Well" is another one.
"My sons" is often changed to "my sins."
LOL! Is there a "story" there? ;-)
No story. My children were all conceived within wedlock.
Tranxine. One of my sons meds.
Oh and it gave up. I was working too hard.
Showed it who was boss ;)
My last name. It's Italian and not very common so I see why.
Weird. My phone doesn't correct me when I write Italian.
Maybe your auto correct and/or spellcheck is off. Or maybe it's because I'm on an ipod touch and you're on a phone?
YES! There should be a way to program in things it reg wants to MISspell & give you a choice of correcting those or leaving it alone! "NO! I *wanted* it spelled exactly the way I just *spelled* it, tyvm!" I use colloquial terms it doesn't like, too.
If gets changed to of a lot.
Duck that shot!
my spellcheck thinks I'm tiny. It's pretty rude.
Hmmm, programmers envy?
Hey, my spellcheck thinks you're Tiny too!
Well, to be fair, it's probably confused as to why you're talking in third person ;) Unless its from other people.. Then it becomes cruel and unusual.
I have such a hard time use to will always be usta in my head.
I have a love hate with mine. It has learned from me as I from it. I use the word yer sometimes. I use it for your and you're as a way to mess with the grammar police and it used to correct it as yet all the time, but now it Usually leaves it alone.
Well perhaps there is hope then. I got a new 5th Gen iPod Touch just a few wks ago so maybe I haven't noticed yet that is learning my idiosyncrasies. Now that you mention it, my 4th Gen may have stopped correcting some things I'd not noticed before.
I don't know if the Touch has it, but I also use the built in abbreviation feature. Like if I start typing out my email after the iamrob part one more letter and my whole email pops up.
I think there a place somewhere on here to do that. I always forget about that option even on my laptop. Thanks! I'll poke around & see where that is!
On iPod Touch: Settings > General > Keyboard > Shortcuts > Add New Shortcut
It constantly wants "correct" knit/crochet abbreviations. I'm inserting the abbreviation in both places so it won't change the abbreviation when I use it to something else, just the ones I use most often in pattern notes.
Will do same for my other "Star language" terms it always wants to change. :-) Thanks!
I hate it it always changes yo to do
My phone loves to change hell to he'll and well to we'll.
It always tries to change well into we'll
My last name.
Love it lol
I have to write that for every paper in my arguments class, Word thinks that exigencies is the only acceptable form.
Yes, even after I recorrect it.. Dumb spell check...
