If you were to shoot a police dog you could, in some jurisdictions, be charged with "assault on a police officer". Police officers can shoot your dog with no consequences whatsoever if they claim self defense. Legit?
Reb, you gotta go on air tonight!
Apparently my invite got lost in the mail. I'm supposed to be on track for next week.
If you are a criminal, and the police lets the dog go after you and you shoot the dog, it is a criminal act. Unfortunately, many civilian dogs are being shot unjustifiably by police. It is tragic in all cases.
You aren't a criminal until you've been convicted, technically.
If you are a perp running from the police,
All I'm saying is its possible, cops makes mistakes.
I understand, police do make mistakes. Like the one in that video. But, there are circumstances where it is necessary. I would argue that the mistakes are far fewer than warranted instances.
That's a matter of perspective
Yes. I don't see a police dog attacking. Unless you are a hunted suspect.
If a dog is attacking me, I'm going to kill it. Doesn't matter whose dog it is.
I can't say all cops are as competent as I'd like them to be.Plus they must be hyper paranoid about when to shoot or not to. Every gun owner knows there is nothing laid back about taking aim no matter how many times you practice it.
Cops can't always be the best so donate to have them trained better, paid more, do it yourself. Or let the cops try their best, until they get out of their car to shoot a barking dog. Then hang him.
Rebel, do you like policemen?
I tolerate honorable peace officers.
Interpret that as you will
I'll go to war with the police in court if they come on my property and do anything. Illegal.
I could understand "destruction of police property," but "assaulting an officer?" Plus, the double standard on top of it. It truly is the theatre of the absurd.
there have been murder cases for killing police dogs
I once saw a video of a cop driving his car. He stopped it, got out, shot a barking dog, got back in, and kept driving.
That's just messed up.
I agree with Kris
Chances are the Police dont go around shooting dogs, im sure there would be a reason if it had to be done.
You must have just followed reb.
No i did not a actually
It says you joined four days ago? I'd say that's pretty recent.
His question is "you...JUST followed Reb" I did not JUST follow him
They shouldn't just shoot dogs, but they seem to. Their justifications are often lacking. Including breaking into the wrong house, and shooting the dog. www.wfaa.com/news/texas-news/212185641.html
So there's five examples of police shooting dogs for questionable reasons - none of these examples involved the owner of the dog committing a crime.
If you shoot a police dog, you can claim self defense, too. It's a tough case as they are well-trained dogs, but it's fair. Whether or not it's right is a different matter. I think people bestow a little too much humanity on dogs with jobs.
In my experience, police officers are extremely racist and they couldn't care less about your property or your pets. However, if you're anything but nice to them, they'll threaten you with jail time or even violence.
I'd like a summary of that first hand experience, please.
You must have been a guest of the State once or twice, I'm guessing?
Careful skarface, our resident popo's are on your ass. :-p
I'm still waiting to hear the sage wisdom of all his first hand experience... He can put up, or stand accused of being a troll...
GUILTY GUILTY GUILTY
This seems to be one of your pet peeves.
