Only in one circumstance -- an abusive relationship that terrifies you and you can't get out of, and you meet someone who turns your life around for the better. So that's probably pretty rare... In general, no, never.

I think it's justifiable if one spouse has been quadriplegic for a number of years and his/her spouse approves of such intercourse.

I can only think of a situation like Terri Schaivo where she had been in a vegetative state for years the family wont grant a divorce and he's moved on.

Certainly not. Even if the spouse is in a coma and wouldn't survive, it is still not acceptable.
