If an individual is Jaywalking and gets hit by a car should the individual receive a ticket for Jaywalking?
The jaywalker broke the law, the jaywalker should be ticketed.
I believe it is necessary to protect the one who hit them from getting sued.
In our area they take pedestrian safety and responsibility very seriously. They do traffic stings to get drivers that do not respect pedestrian rights. Likewise pedestrians better cross at crosswalks.
Adding insult to injury...
If I suicide jump and fail I still get charged
But I actually jaywalk directly from court along with other staff on a regular basis.
So it's not that big a deal in Texas
