The Zoo in your general area is...
Charlotte doesn't even have a zoo....been to the Henry Doorly more times then I could count though....
The Houston Zoo is really good, only Omaha and maybe San Diego beat it
I think it's great ;) Went there recently and fed the elephants and giraffes. It was very fun!
Memphis has a great zoo!
Omaha and Memphis surprisingly great zoos
I enjoy the one closest to me.
It is 222 miles away. The Portland zoo is a very good zoo.
That's quite a distance away. Do you ever get all the way over there?
We have taken our granddaughter there couple times.
Fort Worth zoo isn't too far away, plus it's a great zoo in general.
There is no zoo in my immediate area (except the Swetsville Zoo which is a hilarious display of animals sculpted from junk) and I have not yet been to the Denver Zoo, which is 60 or so miles away.
Is that still open? I thought it was going to close after the son of the owner, who inherited the zoo, died in a drunk driving accident.
Wow, you know about it? Cool. I think you're right. I haven't been there myself, I've just seen photos, plus there's one piece in the children's section of a public garden here. I had read something about it maybe being relocated...
..or closed, I think a year ago, but hadn't seen anything else. I've been meaning to look into its status because we'd talked recently about wanting to go there. I didn't know about the son's death, though.
We don't have one - so "not so great" - nearest zoo is four hours away and just okay
I didn't realize how lucky I am. I have four zoos to choose from, all less than 2.5 hours away by car. And that's not counting the small, private zoos in the area. I figured everyone had this kind of access to zoos. Guess not.
The zoo in Omaha Nebraska is one of the best I have been too. It beats out Columbus Ohio's.
The Portland zoo is very nice.
That's exactly the kind of thing someone from Portland would say.
I just took the kids to the zoo here in Omaha. Its rated the top or second zoo in the country and even though Ive been going since I was little am still surprised sometimes. They had a live show with a trained porcupine that could do dog tricks today
I had no idea that porcupines could do tricks. If it wasn't for the agony inducing quills they'd probably make good pets!
The zoo on Omaha I am hoping to take my kids to next year! We've read about it and watched videos on YouTube.
The Omaha zoo has the most variety of species of any US zoo.
The first person to post anything similar to this gets banned for life:
"I voted 'great' b/c even though my local zoo is a dog pound, when I was 6 I went to a really great Zoo. I think it's closed now, and it was nowhere near me, but I loved it!"
The Bronx Zoo... I'd say it's pretty great as far as zoos go. , haha.
There are two zoos within an hour's drive. One is really terrible. The other is small but okay. Then about two hours away is Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago which is also okay.
My hands-down favorite is Brookfield Zoo, near Chicago. It's also about two hours away by car. Just took the kids there a couple weeks ago. We had a blast!
The room with the large cars smells like pee really bad. Yuck.
At Lincoln park.
Yeah, I don't really enjoy the Lincoln Park Zoo.
It's great if you don't mind the two hour drive
It's almost three hours away in Abilene, and not as good as a big-city zoo.
At least you get to feed giraffes :P
You've been there! I do like that bridge. Are you in Abilene area?
No I live in Fort Worth, I just go to school in Abilene
Three good schools there, as I recall - Abilene Christian, McMurry, and something else that just got obscured by a senior moment.
Hardin-Simmons, and I go to Abilene Christian
That'd be my choice, too! What are you majoring in, eds?
Finance and accounting
Good fields - my wife's a CPA!
