You should be free to live your life however you wish, and make any choices you want, so long as you do not infringe on the rights of others.

Infringe on their rights no. live as you want as long as you do no harm anyone else.

Can't help what folks 'choose' as offensive. My indulgence in the occasional stogie or permanent 'left-foot-itis' are my freedoms. I also enjoy rare steaks which doesn't put off most Hindus.

And there's nothing wrong with it. I wish Republicrats would take it to heart. Maybe we could stop this whole ring of power, tyranny pendulum, tug of war nonsense of partisan bill pushing every two years. "Now we're in charge" "now WE'RE in charge"

I.....disagree. Damn. Your questions are like flypaper to me. (Me being the fly)
I just can't explain it right now. But there are things in society that we all must do. Even if you don't like it. To have a civil society.

Mind you this essentially means you should be able to do whatever you want as long as there's no victim.

But the way you worded it, you are saying that people can choose to walk the streets naked.

commonsense America isnt racist
07/13/13 8:30 am

That's what I'm saying. In a society. It's NOT their right. Unless you want to live in the mountains 1,000's of miles away from people, you must follow society's rules.

You must not be a libertarian. Such a pity.

Society's rules, are if they are to mean anything at all, are there to protect the rights of others. But the government we have now goes much further than that - and in the process impedes people's rights.

NUwriter
07/13/13 9:41 am

And "commonsense" - society is not government. In the same way that people are not cancer.

rebelfury76 No Justice, No Peace

Why are you ashamed of the human body common? What's so obscene about it?

And where did I obligate myself to these rules? Who makes them? Someone who has a higher claim to my body than I? Sounds like bull to me.

@sat, no, I'm not libertarian. But I do respect the party. I just disagree with your social side.
I agree, society and govt are 2 separate entities.

Okay so the Republicans are at 75% and the Dems are at 100% what's really going on here?

rebelfury76 No Justice, No Peace
07/13/13 12:11 am

Well republicans love controlling social issues.

Matt1981 The Who Dat Nation
07/13/13 12:15 am

True, but Democrats are all about creating policies that expand government and chip away at individual rights. Republicans would be pretty cool folks if they could separate church and state.

rebelfury76 No Justice, No Peace
07/13/13 1:11 am

Now mind you that people derive their views from all sorts of philosophical and ideological sources. There is really no overt collusion of church and state in America. Some republicans vote according to their ideology, Christianity.

rebelfury76 No Justice, No Peace
07/13/13 1:11 am

And democrats vote according to their deity, Karl Marx.

NUwriter
07/13/13 9:43 am

Fun that anyone actually reading Marx objectively would see that history has proven him 100% wrong. In order for him to be correct, the workers today would have to be worse off in real terms than their 1860 counterparts.

The Freedom allowed here is Freedom from persecution. Not an E ticket pass to do as you please. Everything you do effects the environment I live in. Live & let live is no longer acceptable. Groups are considered individuals & have = rights.

kspells TheOtherOtherside

If you want to live in same groups as other humans zip code, city, state then you will act in good faith & with just cause to the ethics already establied,

To be a member of most groups today most require you do more than take care of yourself. Your going to have to help some how make life better for someone now or 100 yrs from now.

rebelfury76 No Justice, No Peace
07/13/13 1:45 am

None of that makes sense nor did I agree to it. "Groups" don't have rights, that's just some crack pot left wing nonsense.

rebelfury76 No Justice, No Peace
07/13/13 1:46 am

Why is it any of your business what someone does, as long as they don't harm or affect you?

And no, before you say it, it doesn't affect you. "It affects society". Prove it. It doesn't. That's a lame excuse for controlling people like you own them

rebelfury76 This is where I live. if you so much as breathe it effects me. The fact that you live to take up space means my world is overpopulated. If you leave any trace of your existence then it's polluted waste. Are you sure you can do no harm?

Groups have no more or less rights than the individuals comprising the group have. Killing, theft, kidnapping or counterfeiting are just as wrong when the government does them as when a private individual does.

@kspells, The fact is, whatever people's beliefs were before, I've seen a lot of folks concede this very point after some reasoned, logical debate, especially when it's with @Rebel. His commercials are working. ;)

spells will come on board. I was once a controlling, vote my Christianity, drug warrior, "fight da turrurists!", obey the cops no matter what, republican.

Then I took my journey down the road of liberty. It took me several years but eventually

rebelfury76 No Justice, No Peace

D0m333: I'm curious why you voted no to freedom?

d0m333 Pennsylvania

I'm uncomfortable with absolutes. Sort of like I don't sign anything without my Lawyer. I don't agree to absolutes unless I know the extent. I'm weird

d0m333 Pennsylvania
07/13/13 6:35 am

Absolute anything has a habit of....running manic. For instance. Cocaine would be ok to do. If I'm a parent I don't want my kid doing cocaine and I'm sure most of the neighborhood parents wouldn't want that so that's why it's illegal here.
