Follow up: If you have a nickname, was it given to you by others or did you choose it yourself?
My brother, my nephew, and my grandpa all have nicknames for me.
My name is Kathryn. My parents/family have always called me Katie. My friends and my sister call me Kate. Essentially, I have a nickname for my nickname. Lol
"Starshine" by friends & hubby; "Death Star" or "Red Queen," by everyone when I go ballistic, which is *extremely* rare but nuclear when it does! :-)
That is great!
Most people can't pronounce my name (Nisreen) so I have been given a plethora of nicknames including Niz, THE Niz, Miss Nis, Dr Niz, Nizabelle, Nizzy, Nizzles etc.
But I have neer given myself a nickname because I actually like my name, a lot.
What a lovely name and surrounding nicknames!
Nicknames are given, not chosen... Chosen names are aliases.
Thank you, agreed.
Shelly is my nickname but its what I've been called since I was born. Michelle Marie is by full name
I have a few friends named Michelle and not one of them likes to go by Michelle. One of best friends in the world hates her name because she says it has "hell" spelled out in her name.
My nickname is the same. I was named Theresa but called Teri by my family. I just chose the spelling when I was 5 (Terrie was too long for my 5 year old self)
I actually don't mind going by Michelle. I use it as my formal name so when I go to conferences and such people call me Michelle.
I had two nicknames given to me
Story behind these questions:
A guy I know is thirtysomething. Everyone knows him by his name (which isn't very long). He has now decided to give himself a nickname. He gets mad when you call him by his real name.
