I worked at bath and body works in college and loved being in the floor and helping people and usually got them to add things to their bag so I was pretty good at upping the sales so I'd rather work in that. Plus I think design would be a lot of pressure to create something that would serve its

I hated sales I don't like having to put up a front or schmooze with people

12/03/11 6:41 pm

not that I'm bad at sales, I just like making things. I have a creative mind.

I also do machine embroidery and digitize my own designs. As will as make my own crochet, knitting and sewing designs. I also design my own recipes.

I think the tanking economy and slow sales probably really swayed this.

I have done both. I did demos at Albertsons and was the top seller in the state.

I don't have the patience for design work anymore.

Without salespeople there would be no money to pay the designers.

if you're in sales, read the book "Influence:ThePower of Persuasion". it was written by Robert Cialdini, a ASU professor. he's a fantastic contemporary social psychologist, and it's.,

Sales. I can easily manipulate people (that makes me sound evil, haha)

12/02/11 10:52 pm

32no that was not the point. You said I was wrong that in design you don't have to deal with more dumb people than in sales. I was explaining that I see both sides every day and sales does have to deal with dumb people more.

12/02/11 10:17 pm

I abhor getting rejected.

12/02/11 9:57 pm

"Product design" is what I do every day anyway! With plant based pharmaceuticals instead of gadgets.

12/02/11 9:41 pm

Repubs betta be good so they can sell shizzy plans haha

12/02/11 9:18 pm

I'd suck at both, but I think product design would be more interesting.

Sales isn't just presenting the product, though.

It's all about the close!

Sales, depending on the product

12/02/11 7:36 pm

Fxdwg, ok well your fixing things not DESIGNING the whole thing.

12/02/11 7:35 pm

Product design I'm not social...

12/02/11 7:21 pm

I've tried sales before and I suck...can't get past the BS of trying to sell someone a product they don't need or want.
I'm pretty artistic so the design part would be better for me.

I don't like to talk to people and I like computer work.

32no. I live in Ohio and work fixing broken problems from poor design. I don't have to deal with anyone just the design and how to fix it. Believe me our sales staff has way way more dumb ass people to deal with than I do.

I chose product design, though depending on the product, I may be good at both.

12/02/11 6:03 pm

Fxdwg, uhh,
Yes you do. Where you livin?

12/02/11 6:02 pm

Both, but I think maybe product design more...

I'm not that persuasive or persistent to be in sales

12/02/11 5:56 pm

When building and designing stuff you don't have to deal with as many stupid people.

12/02/11 5:26 pm

I would be horrible at sales. I would get mad much too easily. I do however enjoy designing things.

Same here. Not a social person, but I am pretty artistic and creative. :)
