The conservative democrats did. The progressive republicans did not.

The Democratic Party was the party of slavery. They were also the party of Jim Crow. The Ku Klux Klan was basically the militant wing of the Democratic Party.

Those were Jeffersonian democrats not jacksonian democrats

gluxford1 Arizona
12/27/16 7:59 pm

Still Democrats.

RagingMystic covfefe
12/27/16 8:05 pm

Not the same party

EastCoaster Lovin life
12/27/16 8:14 pm

Jacksonian... Like Andrew Jackson? He supported slavery heavily.

RagingMystic covfefe
12/27/16 8:21 pm

And? Doesn't mean the party did, or that its the same as Jeffersonian democrats

EastCoaster Lovin life
12/27/16 8:22 pm

The party did. Democrats voted for slavery and against anti slavery laws.

gluxford1 Arizona
12/27/16 8:22 pm

That was the party platform! 😂

RagingMystic covfefe
12/27/16 8:23 pm

No, it wasnt, jacksonian democrats didn't come about until after the civil war

RagingMystic covfefe
12/27/16 8:24 pm

"According to Dr. Eric Rauchway , an American History professor at UC Davis, the switch happened somewhere between 1872 and 1936"

EastCoaster Lovin life
12/27/16 8:24 pm

Andrew Jackson was before. We aren't even talking about them. We are talking about Democrats.

RagingMystic covfefe
12/27/16 8:25 pm

If you had studied literally any American history you'd already know this

RagingMystic covfefe
12/27/16 8:26 pm

The modern democratic party is the exact opposite of the democratic party of before the civil war

EastCoaster Lovin life
12/27/16 8:26 pm

You mean the 6 people that switched? When the south became less racist, it became more Republican. The switch was also because of economic reasons, nor racial reasons.

RagingMystic covfefe
12/27/16 8:30 pm

The switch was because of economic reasons, but with it came social things. Again, not the same parties

EastCoaster Lovin life
12/27/16 8:34 pm

You mean Democrats aren't Democrats? They freaking claim that they've always been the party of racial equality.

RagingMystic covfefe
12/27/16 8:35 pm

Its a different democratic party dude.

RagingMystic covfefe
12/27/16 8:36 pm

Tell ya what, to read ANY American history textbooks section on the 1930s and get back to me

EastCoaster Lovin life
12/27/16 8:36 pm

Two words for you. Robert. Byrd.

RagingMystic covfefe
12/27/16 8:37 pm

Just read it

EastCoaster Lovin life
12/27/16 8:38 pm

1930s is the great depression. It's all about economics. Hell, the New Deal excluded the black community from some of the benefits.

gluxford1 Arizona
12/27/16 8:38 pm

Three more words to consider: J. William Fulbright

RagingMystic covfefe
12/27/16 8:41 pm

Read any political section during the 1930s

EastCoaster Lovin life
12/27/16 8:42 pm

So you dont have a rebuttal?

RagingMystic covfefe
12/27/16 8:45 pm

I know the largest shift in voters in history occurred in 1936, because of the shifting parties, and the fact that it actually happened and just about every historians agreement

EastCoaster Lovin life
12/27/16 8:46 pm

For economic reasons. Your forgetting that. They never changed on racial.

RagingMystic covfefe
12/27/16 8:51 pm

Yes they did

EastCoaster Lovin life
12/27/16 8:51 pm

No they didn't. If they did then why did more Republicans than Democrats vote for the civil rights acts in the 60s?

RagingMystic covfefe
12/27/16 8:54 pm

You're ignoring the efforts from all the other democrats supporting it

EastCoaster Lovin life
12/27/16 8:54 pm

That proved my point.

RagingMystic covfefe
12/27/16 8:55 pm

Then you clearly didn't read it

EastCoaster Lovin life
12/27/16 8:56 pm

I read the factual part, not the blog.

EastCoaster Lovin life
12/27/16 8:56 pm

80% of Republicans supported it. Less then 70% of Democrats did. I'm done for tonight.

EastCoaster Lovin life
12/27/16 8:58 pm

Watch Hillary's America. The guy actually did a ton of research.

Gotta love Dinesh D'Souza!

RagingMystic covfefe
12/27/16 9:00 pm

Just like the Obama's america?

EastCoaster Lovin life
12/27/16 9:01 pm

He was insanely accurate with Obama's America.

EastCoaster Lovin life
12/27/16 9:11 pm

Or do you just not like admitting your wrong?

EastCoaster Lovin life
12/27/16 9:11 pm

Yes, it was. Do you have any evidence against it?
