New England States need younger workers to fill jobs & pay taxes for their aging population. The Maine chamber of commerce wants to increase immigration to fill jobs. Do you think increased immigration is a good idea in this case?

I'll trust them to know what is best for their area.

Why not just stop requiring college degrees for every job and instead provide actual relevant job training for people? Someone with an irrelevant college degree shouldn't be hired over someone with no degree just because having one "shows commitment".

There are many people out there that are hard workers and bust their asses but can't get jobs simply because they're not good with tests. Immigration will just bring more people in while keeping the unemployed people we already have unemployed. Work with what we have first, then bring in people from the outside.

Sounds like a 'forced' economic strategy which will most likely not work out in the long run...and as soon as some companies leave the area they'll have the opposite problem.

Advertise your jobs on college web sites. They will come. We do not need more immigrants.

This is ironic for Maine and New Hampshire.

Immigration is always good as long as no criminals come in.

Maine might not be the first choice of most immigrants, especially those from warm climates.

I think increased immigration is a good idea in every case, except for the undesirable effect of increased crowds. But I'd much rather the crowding was due to immigration without an increase in total numbers than due to breeding run amok.

Immigrants usually take low paying jobs which contributes very little in taxes. The reason the population is declining and new people are not coming is more about high taxes and a government hostile to businesses. That's what they should fix instead.

Americans have proven time and again that their professed work ethic is bulls#it. They won't really take any job and they won't move where the jobs are.
