China jobs: Are jobs going to start returning to the US from China?
I hope so.
Automation has eliminated a lot of manufacturing jobs. They are gone not coming back no matter what Trump says.
Not a chance for 3 reasons:
1. 85% of manufacturing jobs lost were due to automation, not cheap labor.
2. Americans Won't work for the equivalent of $2 an hour.
3. Since #2 won't happen and Americans need to make $20 hour (fully loaded employee cost at $13/hr with benefits)-we can't afford $600 Nike sneakers and $4,500 iPhones.
It's simple economics.
I'm skeptical, but I'll wait and see what actually happens. I'd be delighted to be proven wrong.
It's so cute to people that's going to happen.
Suppressed Brain activity.
Why don't you try some grammar classes chinky one?
Jobs are going to come back you arrogant rice paddy schlepp.
Wow, racist AND wrong. The difference in production costs between the US and China is so great that it'll still be cheaper to pay the tariffs and make it in China than the US, and the only way that would change is if we opened up sweat shops in the US
You tunnel vision is clear. Reconfiguration of monetary values, in the future where you can't see because you respond within the immediate, will create new opportunities.
Its not 'reconfiguration of momentary values' tho. Its just charging more.
It is better financially to produce in the US with lower tax rates and decreased regulation even with higher labor costs, than to produce in China with low labor cost and a tariff on incoming goods.
I agree and when they stop playing their monetary valuation game things will get even better.
Strengthening the US dollar will increase our ability to produce. I can see the GDP going up.
Not at $15 per hour their not.
If there not making 15 dollars an hour and were not . Where's all that money going?
Best poll is evenly split? That is not a poll that is a tie and they are boring.
The best polls are those that weigh heavier on one side.
Now, the whole $15 per hour thing is never going to happen. Anyone who engages this ridiculous idea of doubling the minimum wage is a complete fool.
Minimum wage has always been raised in increments so business entities have a chance to adjust.
A jump that high will only result in job loss.
It's an absurd liberal idea!
Slow down a bit Scruff. Are you assuming that I am in favor of something not stated? It seems like a lot of your statement takes offense with me for some unstated reason.
Perhaps a bit of conversation might help instead of going full offense with no information.
I was just addressing your profile statement.
You must be very delicate or paranoid.
I have no offense.
I usually just don't mince words and can be blunt at times. All good!
Some of it is already happening. Foxconn is planning on expanding into the US thanks to apple.
Let's hope so.
Not unless Trump and crew bring back their China tie business back to the US !
