Cooking tips series: Did you know that almond extract and cherry extract are interchangeable in most baking applications if you have one and not the other?
I knew that. Thought everyone knew that.
We have almond extract. Don't have cherry extract because it isn't needed. In fact I don't remember seeing cherry extract for sale at the store.
I'm actually surprised how many people didn't know this one. I almost didn't even use this it because I thought the majority would know it. However, I was busy and didn't have time to think of a better one. I'm glad that I used it now looking at the results.
I dehydrate a lot of my food. Dehydrated cherries this summer. Ground them up into a powder and put them into divinity with the same time I put the syrup in amazing dark cherry flavored divinity. Used almond extract rather than vanilla.
I did not know that, but I don't know that I've ever used cherry extract for anything.
A hint of almond extract in anything that was vanilla (& some things chocolate) was my mom's "trick" to make it special.
I go through Allmond extract. too bad you can't buy it by the gallon

Good. It seems I never have the right extract on hand. I fudge a lot.
Spritz cookies tastes better with almond than cherry, tho have tried both.
Cherry marzipan seems like it would be odd

Never needed cheery extract. Not a huge fan of cherries though
