I've done a couple. Feed the homeless drug addicts lunch which was on my birthday. Also I did volunteer work with job to help build a home with habitat for humanity
I belong to an organization called Zonta International. It is an organization of professionals from around the world who work on behalf of women and children through service and advocacy programs. I am the advocacy chairperson for the club I belong to and our club is very active in our community.
I also volunteer for the local sexual assault center as a client advocate. I'm actually on call right now.
I also volunteer at my church. I do children's sermons once a month throughout the school year and also throughout the entire summer. In addition, I am a lay reader, a communion assistant, and a member of my pastors leadership team.
We live in Nashville, a city that actually does sleep sometimes. Long after everyone has gone to bed, I take a volunteer or my daughters with me to the public square park downtown and various areas in the sprawling downtown commercial district and hand out free food and free blankets. I think it's impotant for people to see poverty and homelessness up front.
Irish, I said no, just to see, who would lecture the selfish, mean Ol'Conservative, on what "you" think they should be doing. It's true my wife & I give yearly to several charities, including, Wounded Warriors (we have been monthly contributors, since it was founded), CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates for Abused & neglected children( both of us, contributors & volunteers both 10 to 30 hrs. monthly, for approx.10yrs). Both members of Civitan Club, (we contribute & support Special Olympics & Special needs school, with our money & time). We also participate with our Church, we go visiting, plus taking meals to sick & elderly. I won't bore you or embarrass myself by mentioning anything else. I'm sure a your generous with your time & money, but I won't demand accountability or demean your efforts. Merry Christmas🎄❗
Thanks for sharing the web site, GA. Nice picture! I was very interested in the Face-to-Face program, and read the profiles of each of the speakers. I'm going to go back and watch some of the videos. I find the whole thing tragic yet fascinating, and I am interested in hearing the survivors' stories.
I volunteer on the volunteer fire dept here in town I'm on the ladies auxiliary. We do a lot for the community. Fire safety activities for the kids, mock accidents for MADD at prom time, etc. When there is a big structure fire, we take food and beverages out to the crews battling it and also sit with the family. If needed, we hunt down clothes, blankets, etc. That's usually for fires late at night in the winter time.
Yep. I did volunteer work for Civil Air Patrol, Air Force ROTC, and one class at my university, the latter two of which were done "for" them but through other organizations.
