Something is wrong with our government/economy when entire families are working and they still don't have enough money to pay the bills.
A lot goes into that question.
It is not the job of the government to provide your every need.
We do provide for those that need our help.
Rent control or lowering would help those in California. Most are now almost paying $1500/month for a 1 bedroom apt. And housing costs? Forget it!
That's the case in a lot of highly populated areas, and its really unfortunate
The problem is, most people don't understand the problem.
What made our country successful was migration. When the cost of living was too high in the east people began a westward movement. If we can't afford to live where we are, it's not the governments responsibility to provide us with more, it's our responsibility to find where our skills are marketable for a living wage and to migrate to that place.
We are a spoiled society that feels we have the right to stay in (Detroit, Chicago, you name it) and have the same lifestyle we had when the economy there was thriving; we don't.
If you can't afford where you live, put yourself on the market for compensation capable of supporting you. If no employer will pay it go where you can live on what you can make. If you still can't make it, change your career or accept a lower standard of living. Quit believing that you are entitled to the life you want; you are entitled to the life you deserve.
