Police in New York broke into a vehicle to rescue an apparently frozen woman, only to find it was a mannequin. Given that it was not a human and that posessing a mannequin and storing it in your car is legal, who should have to pay to repair the car?

Obviously they couldn't tell it was a mannequin or they wouldn't have broken in in the first place. If it had been a human and they had not broken in and the person had died everyone would be criticizing the cops for not doing something. The owners insurance will pay for the window. And, maybe next time they won't be stupid enough to leave a mannequin in their car that could pass for a human. Though the police department may go ahead and give them some sort of compensation.

It's a life sized life like medical mannequin used to teach people how to work on elderly patients. No one was in the wrong, shit happens.
