Last September, Kim Jong-un got drunk at a party, ordered his military chiefs to stay up all night writing apologies for their failures, and then couldn't remember why they were there when he woke up the next morning. Will he be ousted in 2017?

He will use the letters as reasons for a purge. "Failure is not acceptable!"

He'll blame it on the Russians. Or say he couldn't recall.

Reminds me of a former boss. We knew not to pay attention to the weird orders he gave on Friday afternoons after having his end of the week lunch cocktails...

Can't remember when I heard it, but it was said, he is there only because the generals allow it!

Kim Jung-Un has had people at even the highest levels of his regime executed for even the slightest appearance of dissidence. He's extremely paranoid and is utterly convinced of his supremacy. The people closest to him are like abuse victims that never leave their abusers because they have lost all sense of self identity. They are loyal to the extreme because they have been indoctrinated with the North Korean dogma since birth.

I'm pretty sure Kim Jong-un wouldn't allow that to happen.

It's hard to stop a coup when you're blackout drunk.

I would love to see it happen but the people live in fear. Are there enough people who are brave enough to begin planning it? The people don't know who they can trust vs who will turn them in.

They have all sorts of plants and loyalists sprinkled through every level of government. I'm sure most of the people over there suffer from severe anxiety disorders.

If he could just get a decent haircut I think it would improve his disposition.

His ties to the Chinese communist party means he has great job security. If he gets kicked out it will be because of China, not his commanders.

Nope. This is a chronic condition when despots are created by a Socialist system of government.

The North Koreans seem to prefer insane, dictatorial leaders.

You don't read about it here but in Russia the prevailing thought is that his sister truly runs things and he is the front man. The people would not allow a female ruler but she's much smarter and more ruthless than him. He is not healthy either.
I don't know what's true but Jong-Un is insane. His sister Yo-Jong is not. Officially she is head of agitation and propaganda but unofficially, many say, she runs the country. If so, it may last a long time. If it's Jong-Un, who knows?

The Kim dynasty has been in power for nearly 70 years despite so much going against them. I don't know how long Kim Jong-un will last and anything can could happen in 2017 but I'm leaning no.
