You are getting a puppy! Is a pit bull an option? (If not comment why)

I like lap dogs way better. Definitely would have to go with a dachshund.

Hell no. I have a five year old.

The prejudice against pits is ill founded. A well raised, happy pit is a GREAT dog and many who have been ill treated can be re-programmed.

I personally prefer spaniels and currently have a rescue Lab but it is a tragedy that pits are often just put down in shelters (more than any other breed) because of a reputation they largely don't deserve.

They have shown to be unpredictable (not all) and have a common trait to be aggressive while not all are aggressive you never know....

My friend has a pitbull. That thing is the biggest baby and sweetest puppy.

I'm hoping to get a dog soon, actually, but it will probably be some kind of mutt

I want a dog really badly and will hopefully get one in the next few months. I've been, optimistically, trying to think of dog names :)

We have a tendency to name pets in our family after things we like... A town we used to live in, a line from a movie, a restaurant we like, a football player we like.

So I'm leaning towards a name that relates to hockey or wine.

I don't think they're evil, I just don't like them.
