18 yr old HS senior has consensual sex with your 15 yr old HS teenager. 15 yr old can't legally consent. Would you have the 18 yr old arrested for statutory rape?

No. Since it was consensual and we've known for a long time her whoremoans have been out of control, it's a safe bet she had sex with other boys, he's just the one who p*ssed her off enough (for something totally unrelated to sex). Being that we..

also have older sons, we know that not always is it the guy's fault even though the law makes society want to believe these 15 year old princesses can do no wrong, at least not when consensual sex is the issue.

My wife's parents tried to have me arrested but I was still barely inside the age limit.

Absolutely not. I had older partners when i was that age. Thats an awful thing to do to someone in this particular situation.

THAT I agree with. If you want to handle that situation between parents or with the 18 yo, HAVE AT IT.

But don't get the State involved or try to make that decision for other families on their behalf. THAT is where I think you're wrong.

Can I have the right to shoot an adult sleeping with my teenage daughter please? Lol jk

I would not press charges. Kids make mistakes and we would deal with it.

My 16yo daughter's boyfriend is 18. His parents are very concerned about someone accusing their son of statutory rape. I understand their concern. It's a serious charge. I would absolutely not accuse him.

They shouldn't be since they're in the clear

Not in IL they're not. Not until she turns 17 in 6 months. If they were sleeping together, that is. They aren't. And no, I'm not being naive. But that's beside the point, I guess.

It's so absurd, even if they were, they're not hurting anyone

I agree with you, Rebel.

Probably not. It depends on the 18 yr olds intentions and if they're a positive influence. I'm not going to make a scene about it if they're both really into each other.

No way. That can be handled amongst families, no need to involve the State, that has never made the situation better.

I guess it would depend on the 18 year old's sense of responsibility and the 15 year old's maturity. I actually remember being a stupid teenager.

15 year olds are old enough (maybe not smart enough) to decide if they want to have sex

In this scenario the 15 year old cannot legally consent to sex.

dramaschick All ways in my head

How would they not be able to consent. If they don't consent then it's just plain rape

15 year old cant legally smoke but some do. The law has nothing to do with it. Unless the parents bring them in

r3VOLution not of this world

The law says that even if a 15 year old says yes it doesn't matter. Age of consent laws very by state. It's to protect them from being coerced into having sexual intercourse by someone older than them.

The idea of an age of consent is just more evidence that the State thinks it owns you

r3VOLution not of this world

So you would be I favor of the removal of age of consent laws?

dramaschick All ways in my head

I am in favor of people being allowed to be people. The government can't say who is mature enough or not mature enough to make decisions. If you commit some murders at 15 you can be charged as an adult. There needs to be one rule across the board

r3VOLution not of this world
07/07/13 6:33 pm

Ok so a 15 yr old can consent to sex with a 30 yr old?
How young and how old?

Rev, its none of your business.

You. Don't. Own. People.

Stop trying to make decisions for people you'll never meet. It's not healthy.

dramaschick All ways in my head

No that is not appropriate. However when you have to people who are in high school together they can be in the same classes do sports together. They are teenagers. When you are an adult you should know better.

15 is technically a child. 17 is technically a child. How would I protect my children in that situation?

dramaschick All ways in my head
07/07/13 6:50 pm

15 is a child until you murder someone then your an adult

r3VOLution not of this world
07/07/13 7:00 pm

I feel like that is different because there isn't necessarily an 18+ person influencing the action.
I think you can be tried as an adult as young as 13.
I hear your argument but the logic is flawed.

dramaschick All ways in my head
07/07/13 7:04 pm

Just because the person is younger it doesn't mean that they were "influenced" there's a lot of young hoe bags out there who look for older boys or girls. I think your assuming that the 15 year old is completely innocent when that's rarely the case

rebelfury76 No Justice, No Peace
07/07/13 7:05 pm

Actually rev its spot on. Either they're an adult or not, from the government's point of view. Sorry, but I maintain that everyone follow the non aggression principle and self ownership. You have no right to make that decision for someone, none.

dramaschick All ways in my head
07/07/13 7:11 pm

What if they are both 15 or one is 16 they can't consent so at what age are no longer "influenced" into having sex. If its a 15 year old boy they will try to talk every girl into having sex regardless of the age.

No. They're 18, so I might get physical, but no.

I don't think I would if it were my child. It's not fair to have someone classified as a sex offender for the rest of their lives because they fell for someone younger. (There is a limit. Not younger then 15)

MrLucchese If curious, ask.
07/07/13 4:16 pm

I wouldn't press charges, but I would have them arrested. Just to scare the hell out of them.

r3VOLution not of this world

I think you could get in trouble if you have someone arrested to only drop charges.

MrLucchese If curious, ask.
07/07/13 4:22 pm

As far as my knowledge extends, I don't believe that's the case, but I could be wrong. You could always have a legitimate change of heart.

You cannot assume the gender of either person.
