I would like to compare results of a poll asked of my followers to those of another SOHer. Have you ever fired a firearm?
All the time.
No, but I want to learn how to properly handle one and shoot it. Just haven't yet
Military, so yes. Lol. Lots of different kinds.
One of my favorite things to do is go to the shooting range with my dad. I have also go e hunting and shot a few different animals.
Nope. I'm not opposed to guns, I'm just opposed to personally shooting one because I'm accident-prone. I prefer to keep those around me safe. It's really a service to the community.
Absolutely. We own guns. My hubby was a sniper in the service.
Yup, I own two
When we go down to the stretch of creek my uncle owns, we shoot guns at empty beer cans. I've only participated once, but I'm not a bad shot. It's actually fun too
The poll I am comparing to is by Rand2016 - he's pretty fun to follow if anyone is looking for more diverse ideas
Yup. Won't again. You don't NEED a gun. "Ohh I have a second amendment right blah blah". oh please. Bet you don't know the other amendments, nor agree with them.
Good thing it's not for you to decide. I feel I do need them and actually don't find too much about the constitution reprehensible besides the 16th. It's my right, and not just because its on paper, its my inherent right to self defense.
Okay, you'd still find more trouble with hem but without them, but of course, your choices not mice :p
Yes. I NEED a gun to protect myself. But conveniently, I have the 2nd Amendment so I don't HAVE to explain to anyone why I need one.
I love exercising my second amendment right!
Thats what an asshole said to my sister after he stole her belongings and she tried getting them back. He pulled a handgun on her.
That wasn't his second amendment right, ergo, invalid argument. Please try again.
I have, many years ago. Found it distasteful so I wouldn't exactly say "hell yeah!"
I agree - I was trying to copy Rands poll - but then I got it wrong anyway - darn it
8 yrs army. Not much I haven't fired!
Ma deuce FTW
No, but I would like to.
I don't think I have. We (4 people) took something to Mexico with us in 1966, because we had plans to live on the edge of the jungle near the beach in Yucatan & try to be self sufficient for some months. (Stop laughing.) I remember we...
..took it out somewhere for mutual firearm safety training & practice, but I honestly don't remember if I fired it or not. (It was the 60s, so who remembers...) But it never made it to Yucatan; I think it got confiscated at a state border crossing.
Hehe are you sure you even made it to Mexico?
There is that possibility.. Hm. Police stole our car; chief's son practiced his English on us. Car died in Yucatan, police spoke no English OR Spanish; had to import interpreter so we could donate car to government. Elderly man insisted on...
LOL, OK I stopped. Some people want to travel forward on time, I'd rather go back to '68. My parents were too conservative and settled to have experienced any of that, but I have other family who had similar experiences.
...wrapping a metal strap tightly around my suitcase for shipment on train, 8 pesos, please. Better huevos rancheros than anywhere else in the world. Camped on a beach next to a luxury hotel; totally legal. One of us 4 wanted to trade my body for...
..water rights. Customs officer at border confiscated birth control pills (therefore I have a 45-year-old daughter).
Yeah, I think I was in Mexico. Can't be positive, though.
What a live you've led!
Only a BB gun
Shelly: any idea why this poll shows up three times for us? There's been a lot of double and even triple pools. I reported this one to Tony.
This one was a problem while I was posting - it kept telling me it hadn't posted and I kept trying to submit - when it finally "went through" it had posted three times
I just got a response back that due to minor differences in the question the system didn't pick up that they are identical.
I did retype it once. But not twice. So that could be true for one of the questions. But it only told me it "went through" once
Ben, Tony's programmer, said he may know why this is happening to people, you're not the only one. He's looking into a fix. For now he deleted two of them, problem solved.
Yes military and shooting range.
Yup. I own a handful
Never have and definitely don't plan on it.
I have at a shooting range a number of times.
I don't own a gun any more. Not with my kid in the house. It'd be useless because i'd have it triple locked away.
& as soon as my son wants to play with toy guns, im teaching him gun safety.
No, not having one is useless. Just be responsible. You still have electrical sockets, liquid plumber, small objects, sharp corners...etc etc right?
I was waiting for that response....
Why have it if i'm not going to use it?
Good question, so use it. Hope your children never have to rely on you to protect them n the middle of the night. A simple safe is enough to keep children at bay.
When I was in the service. Not since.
Of course. I used to shoot at least once a month, but I haven't recently because of the ammunition shortage.
Triple post lol
I know - I definitely was having trouble with posting - LOL
I want to learn. My boyfriend is going to teach me.
