Do you believe happiness is something that can be achieved? Or is it determined more by a predetermined genetic disposition?
I think there are many different reasons to be happy. You can take a bite of food and go ohhhh that makes me happy. Or it can be long-standing attitude of happiness. Unhappiness can be a chemical imbalance. As well as situational.
I don't think it's predestined by genetics but it is largely influenced by your early experiences as a child. That being said you can change your perspective. You you choose to view the world is up to you.
*How you choose
Perspective is a difficult thing to change by free will alone. Any tips, tricks, or ideas you'd like to share?
It is difficult a requires a focused effort with an attitude of gratitude. Having mindful gratitude can help you focus on the good in your life.
Daily practice is at the start of each day think about the things you are looking forward to & .....
the end of each day give thanks for at least 3 things (but even better all the things you can think of) that you are grateful for.
Throughout the day when you find yourself complaining about something take a breath & think of something positive...
about the situation even if the only positive thing is that it's an opportunity to learn & grow.
A weekly (or more frequent) meditation practice can also help. I've found the Meditation on Twin Hearts to be helpful. Look online & you ....
might be able to find a group in your area or you can buy a CD & do on your own at home but its better with a group.
If you're suffering from depression the first thing to do is get more exercise & if that doesn't work please get professional help.
Good luck & you can do it.
