Do you regularly listen to ethnic music from completely different cultures than your own? Not talking rap or country. I'm talking Arabic, Peruvian, Indian, etc.
I love Latin music-bachata, reggaeton, cumbia, duranguense, etc. love dancing to it as well.
I love Latin music. I'm in love with Shakira!
Italian. It makes me happy :)
Cusco is Peruvian, right? I like them. And African chants.
I don't regularly, but I do listen to Psy (K-Pop) and the occasional song from Mexico.
I'm a white atheist and I like listening to Muslim prayers. I still don't know why.
Probably because they are gorgeous.
I'm a huge fan of Arabic music.
Technically no, because I am culturally Argentine as well as American. However, I do regularly listen to music in Spanish that is usually not played on Latino radio here in the US (or Mexico and Central America, for that matter).
K pop a little and polish techno lol
Mariachi, kumbia, little bit of reggae too.
Not that I can think of, other than Moroccan music, but then only as accompaniment to the belly dancer. Or traditional German music, which isn't my culture, but it is the culture of most of my great-greats.
I love British music. Beatles, Stones, The Who....
Not exactly what I meant...
Now if you listen to Celtic or bagpipes that would be a yes
I deeply enjoy Celtic music as well as bagpipes. But I have Celtic heritage so I answered no to the poll question.
I know. I thought I'd throw that in there. Does Clannad & Enya count? Enya is so therapeutic and calming to me. She is so smooooolth.
Ditto Enya. Therapeutic is an excellent descriptor.
I love African music, their voices have such a cool texture.
Not really interested in that lol
- Spanish/Italian guitar
- Hawaiian. (I know it's not a foreign
country, lol. But it's exotic)
Not regularly, but then I don't listen to music much at all.
I figured you'd be the one to say that!
I have listened to Appalachian music before. It's not from a different country, but it's from a very different culture.1
Spanish and Swedish
I have a lot of Latin music in my pandora mix. I like it, and I like my kids to hear it.
Me gusta Jaunes. <3
Juanes is re-sexy.
Not regularly, but occasionally.
Yep. Reggae, Celtic, several different styles of Latin and Asian, and whatever else I can dig up.
Have you ever heard Kalafina?
Might have. I just pick a style and listen.
Want a link or something? I'm curious. . .
Sure. I will give anything a shot.
Some Spanish, but not that regularly
I have a lot of Malaysian music. I can't understand it, but the language is so beautiful when sung.
Yes, I love listening to a plethora of music. Celtic, Arabic, Indian, some Spanish, to name a few.
French, some Spanish and a lot of Italian music. :)
Chano Dominguez is Spanish jazz - very influenced by flamenco music - check it out. "hecho a mano" definitely my favorite album of his
Awesome! Thanks for the suggestion! Have you ever listened to Armik? I love his albums.
I'll check out Armik. also if you're into jazz...straight out of tel-aviv is Avishai Cohen Trio. now there is some killer jazz
Very good, thanks! Of the three I listed, I prefer Italian, but I like them all.
Ravi Shankar. "offering" is great.
Ravi Shankar anything is fantastic.
Did you know Nora Jones in his daughter?
yes. her and anoushka Shankar - very hot! anoushka's music is great as well - amazing to watch a performance her and her father gave several years ago in NYC...really great show
Anoushka is so very very hot!
I'm having a blast imagining you guys trying to pronounce her name.
I've been obsessed with Indian culture since I was about 15. I actually requested England as a duty station way back in the day with the sole reason of finding an Indian girl with a British accent to marry.
Ended up marrying a US Soldier. Ugh :p
But I love my wife so I'm ok :D
