Do you have an American flag hanging outside of your home?
Follow me I'll follow back!
Of course I do.
No but there's a Union Jack in my room.
The motto for our country should be "Symbolism over Substance!" Every day is one step closer to the world of Idiocracy. Instead of Brawndo, Walmart will rule the land.
Nope. I wouldn't have room for my DIRECTV dish if I had a flag on my balcony. Priorities.
Always have, always will.
This is truly a sad commentary! "Home of the free, land of the brave". "My country right or wrong, it's still my country. Go buy a flag and feel like a patriot.
No, but I have the flag waving in my heart... Haha, very cheesy, I know ????
yes. I flew it at half staff in honor of the 19 firefighters. I do not lower it for politicians.
I had to answer no, but in my defense, I just moved a month ago. Give it time.
We used to - then it was stolen. Then learned all the things we did wrong - not having a light in it - not getting it down when the rain comes (even when we are not home) and decided we really don't have the ability to properly respect it
I have the Israelie, alabama, and Crimson Tide flag. No American yet.
We fly our flag year round as a reminder democracy is not free. Someone is always paying the price.
Do you follow all the flag rules?
Yes we do follow the rules of displaying the American Flag.
The rest of the western world looks down on our embarrassing displays of nationalism. People like those commenting here are the reason why. Funny how they think America can do no wrong until it does something they disagree with.
Well fuck them.
Hear hear wishing
Really? We should care about some someone who looks down on us for displaying the flag? I'd rather not care at all what they think about that. Does it do any good to pander to someone else's opinion here? No. It has nothing to do with them and doesn't affect them at all.
Why do we give a damn what the rest of the world thinks about us having flags on the side of our homes. If you're so concerned about what they think in other parts of the world go join them.
matty didn't like that
What's that? I couldn't hear you OVER MY FREEDOM!!
Yes, the mailman put one out in front of all our houses :)
I'd sue him for property damage.
I'd take it out
Seriously? The mailman? That doesn't sound right?
I've always thought it was the mailman but someone always puts little American flags on our houses. I thought it was nice :) on Memorial Day someone also hangs banners on the streetlights with names of veterans. It's a neighborly gesture:)
I don't as of now - living in an apartment - but once my wife and I settle down and purchase a house we'll sure have one!
No there are too many rules for owning and operating an American flag.
Hanging? Ours flies proudly from a flagpole!
Vermont 70% yes
For those who are saying a HoA prohibits you from flying an American flag, there is a federal law that prohibits them from doing so. It is your right to display the flag. Look up "Freedom to Display the American Flag Act of 2005."
But many make it so restrictive like no mounting anything to siding etc etc.
You know, like government can't forbid the second amendment but they can make you give up money, restrict where you can carry, what types of firearms, etc etc.
over charge on ammo so only the elite and wealthy can own guns... oh yea and the department of homeland security who apparently needs to quadruple their ammo reserve
i'm not very patriotic.. sorry. I like what our country stands for and some of the freedoms we have, but the people who make up this country are typically self-absorbed, ignorant, indulgent people.
Agreed... but it's always good to display the flag considering what our stands for. even in our country's current state the flag can remind us of the intentions we should strive to have that the government conveniently forgets
Sounds a bit self-absorbed, ignorant, and indulgent. Just sayin'.
not... really... though
I have 2! My house has 2 driveways, I have a flag for each entrance.
I don't because it may be considered to patriotic and I might get audited;)
I don't have any mounting brackets yet;). Or I would have one 24-7 with a light.
Can't due to HOA rules, but I would if I could.
That's absolutely absurd
Just put up the American Flag they won't say no. If they do you won't have an issue finding a lawyer to take your case for free. Get the media involved. It is your constitutional right to display it just as it is your right to burn it.
There's actually a federal law that prohibits groups like HoAs from disallowing you from flying the American flag. Look into it and then bring it up. If they still refuse, go see the federal prosecutor to file a suit.
Yeah but they can make it so restrictive that its effectively outlawed.
You know, like the second amendment in many areas.
My flags keep the terrorists away.
All the people who are freaking out about people not hanging a flag, you do realize people love in apartments right?
Again, you are allowed to display the American flag it is the law.
Nobody said you aren't, but it's kinda hard to hang a flag when you have no where to hang it
A window perhaps. Or the balcony.
The results on this makes me sad.
We have a flag and a god bless our troops flag.
We just moved here and haven't had time to put one in yet. But we will!
Sad!!! More people fly their favorite team's banner. I know some apartment buildings make it impossible, but sad!!
And shame on HOAs that say no to US flags.
I fly my Flag on every Official Flag Day and sometimes when I just feel like it.
Seriously? Hang a flag dude
It have about 5 small ones in my backyard!
I proudly fly the Bonnie Blue Flag!
I have a Union Jack =) (I moved here from Britain)
Of course! Everyday!
I was born here... Why would I fly any other flag???
My flag is always flying outside my home unless the weather turns dangerous.
I do not. I never fly a flag at my house.
No, but I have one on my shirt.
It's America's birthday. Waving a flag is a way to say happy birthday America.
Sure do!!! Been flying the colors all week!!!
USA! USA! USA!
I live here. Are people really not going to know which country I support?
my dad insists on it. I say you don't need a flag to show you're patriotic. but it doesn't bother me to see them. but I'd probably have one for the holiday
At my house the Stars and Stripes hang proudly 24/7/365. It is replaced yearly and the old one is retired properly.
Oh and a week or so before Independence Day I put cute little small flags in all of the planters around the porches and decks.
24/7/365? You don't take it down at night or during storms?
I do not take it down at night because it is uplit and beautiful at night. I have never taken it down due to weather or storms. Now I'm curious though, is that considered disrespectful?
Here is info....page ten I think.
Thanks Kay41! I'm good, it's an all weather flag. phew!!
You are welcome! :)
You know, Hitler had an Eagle's Nest...
Lawman- really? all you have to do is look at profile pic to understand.
No but I have a ton inside my home. On my desk aloe there are five.
EVERY American should display the American flag on all holidays. It's just good etiquette and good for morale. We could use some positive unity.
Just my opinion...but I think we should display the flag in some capacity at our homes everyday. Mine is on display 24/7 and is illuminated at night.
Absolutely not. That flag represents the very right to not be forced to do things. Even if it is displaying a flag. We're a democratic republic, not nationalistic fascists.
Ours is 24/7 and illuminated at night.
No, but next summer when we start remodeling the outside, I'm putting in a flag pole.
