Do you keep a journal, diary, or some other form of written log about your life?

I have a personal rule. Never write it down.

If I'm going through hard times I write it down in order to shift my perspective, and then delete the document immediately.

Why delete? You can always look back and reflect on how much you've grown as a person when you read it later on in your life.

I delete them because I tend to view my own depressive thoughts as mental weakness, even though as a psychology student I know better.

My thoughts on paper would get me in lots of trouble.....

I wrote songs about it and random journal entries when I just am too flustered to write a song.

I journal sporadically. Much less now than I used to. I also come across random pieces of scrap paper from time to time. They'll say anything from "Go to Hell you shitstain" to "Stop eating at Olive Garden". It's pretty amusing.

Oh! And I also write letters to people when I am upset with them, and then I don't send them. It makes me feel better.

I note the one or two truly noteworthy events per year on the calendar, but don't keep a daily record. It wouldn't interest anyone else at all, and it isn't very interesting to me.

Last year i read some diaries from when i was a child-teen. Immediately thought 'Kill it with fire!!!' And destroyed it all. I dont want anyone to find that when i die.
Be careful what you write. I may be your legacy.

I used to when I was younger but when I was a teenager my stepmom found my journal and read it (taking the goddamned time to decipher it because it was in code). Ever since, I prefer to avoid the potential for someone to violate my privacy....

I'm not a writer. I did keep a date book a few years ago and wrote down everywhere I went and who I was with. It was neat going back and seeing all the fun I had.

I have crazy thoughts, no one needs to have the chance to see what goes on in head

I wish I did. I did for about a year when I was 14/15 years old.

I've been doing this for years. It started when I was 11, and there are a number of composition notebooks very cleverly stashed or locked away where no one can see them.

I don't want there to be a chance that all my thoughts will be found. It happened once but won't again.

07/03/13 11:27 am

No journal, diary, or anything like that.

But I do have a notebook next to my bed; sometimes I'll wake up in the middle of the night with a really good idea and just have to write it down! I've never actually referred back to the notebook though...

Yes. I've been writing down my life for the past twelve years.
