Do you have any weird phobias?
You know...that makes total sense
Balloons, man. I hate those creepy little bastards. ????
My mom has the same fear
Needles, dentists, handwriting, and being stuck in a public place
Yes. I have an intense fear of having to write with pencils. I can draw and type but im scurred of writing with a pen or pencil
Nah, just the usual.. I think: fear of spiders, fear of heights, fear of rejection, fear of dolls, fear of public speaking (in large audiences, I'm a rather exceptional speaker in small crowds).
I got nominated by my AP Lang teacher for Poetry Out Loud because she as well as the rest of the class thought I was an excellent speaker/reader of poetry and when I got on the huge stage I faltered and forgot the poem I knew by heart an hour before.
But I think I'm going to try again this year in AP Literature. I can't fail this time although the memory of being in front of hundreds of people and failing still haunts me and it kept me from representing our school's FBLA in the speech competition
Definitely try again. It will get easier. Just remember, those people in the room are just people. Many of them also have a fear of public speaking and are impressed that you are even giving it a go.
I can't stand climbing on ladders, but I marked no as I do not consider that weird.
Small, enclosed spaces and feet.
I can't stand driving on bridges over water. I have this irrational idea that something horrible is going to happen and I am going to go driving off the side and be locked in my car sinking in a river.
I'm deathly afraid of feet, they can't get near me or touch me or I'll freak out sometimes even cry, and I have a weird fear of people touching my face, I can't have that, and I still freak out before getting shots, and I can't be around clowns.
Me too with he clowns. I'm not sure it's quite a phobia, but I really, really don't like or trust them.
Clowns are the devil. Ugh
And butterflies and ladybugs.
Oh, my gosh, yes! I have such an intense and irrational aversion to feet. I thought I was alone in the world.
I don't share the same fears, but I really, really don't understand people with foot fetishes. Just... Ew.
Brittani, how are you doing?
Dude everyone hates clowns. Even clowns hate clowns
I'm with you on the feet aversion. I won't cry, but I do ask (beg) my husband to put on some damn socks!! I love him to pieces, but his feet are particularly unsightly. And it's summertime, so he's generally barefoot. :(
I over analyze..so there are a bunch of little ones that I only experience when they are staring me in the face, and then, outa site outa mind..
Just the usual phobias. I consider it to be completely normal to be paralyzed in fear anytime you're more that 20-30 feet above the ground without a rope, a wall, or something to hold on to.
What about if you're using force jump or something?! How ever will the all powerful Zod handle it?
Helicopter. I'm fine in an aircraft of any kind in any attitude. I'm not fine when the only things between me and certain death are my slippery shoes and my sweaty "grip".
Poor Zod... So I'm assuming you wouldn't go mountain climbing? Haha
Mountain-walking, like going up Rainier, sure. Rock climbing, hanging from a spike hammered into a crack in the rock? No way!
Haven't you figured out a way to turn your beard into some type of expandable force field?!
Are we talking about politicians?
-clap clap clap clap clap-
Dammit MrL! Well played my man......well played.
Haha, thanks! *bows* I'll be here all week! And the week after that, and the week after that....
Fear of inadequacy is my strange fear. Fears of needles and heights are rather mainstream. I plan on going skydiving later this year, so hopefully that'll help me get over my fear of heights.
I'm terrified of being inadequate to the point where I will mentally shut down.. And become inadequate.. And then it cycles. It's awesome.. Have fun skydiving!!
:O I swore I was the only one... I try to be everything to all people and that contributes to it a lot.
And I plan on it! There's no point in holding back simply because I'm afraid of heights.
Yeah. The hardest part is jumping, just don't think about it!
I think that once I'm up there, I'll be alright. It's the anticipation of jumping that's the problem. I kind of want to do a really dramatic dive though, haha :D
Heights arent scary if you say "I CAN DO THIS"
They're still scary when you are standing on top of a cliff staring down with no safety equipment... I don't care what I say, haha.
Ok its scarier with no equipment, but as long as your careful youll be fine
And theres almost always an easy path down
MrL, you won't truly be able to enjoy your own company (or truly have confidence) until you are true to yourself and who you are. You spend a great deal of time trying to be everything to everyone, but that robs you of so much of who you are.
I know this because I was that people-pleaser for decades, always trying to be everything to everyone and putting myself last in every situation. It isn't fun because, as you know, it's an impossible task.
Mr. L its pretty easy to not panic when going down. Just remember, three points of contact at all times
Oh I certainly know that. It's engrained in my personality. Fortunately, though, I can be very emotionally detached when it's needed. Being a people pleaser is my tragic flaw for sure...
Crossing roads. I sweat just thinking about it. I m sure I m going to be hit by a car.
Or so it feels.
I don't think of it as a phobia, but oftentimes when I am going over a railroad crossing, I wonder whether the crossing barrier works or not & whether there is a train barreling toward me at that very moment.
Is being afraid of all birds, especially peacocks, weird?
Yes! my best friend is terrified too, I tease her all the time
Mah i know lots of people who are afraid of birds. Usually cuz of bad experiences
My dad is ridiculously afraid of birds. I find it pretty funny. He won't even eat chicken because of his phobia. Weird.
Speaking of non phobias though, I had to get (I think it was 3?) stitches in my thumb. I sat up and before the doc started I said "Hey, could you not numb it? I want to watch.)
I didn't get my way though :(
I had the opposite (as a child). They "numbed" it, but didn't follow directions so I could feel it the whole time.
I have a fear of throwing up. Have had it for years. I'll go into a full on panic attack if I feel I have to vomit.
I have an irrational aversion to butterflies & chewing gum. I get physically I'll at the sight of needles even on T.V. Or in movies. Just one click shy of being a Germa-phobe. And I still think that my blood drawn for testing is being mis-used.
Mispronouncing things on a menu to the waitress, finding a bug in my drink, saying embarrassing secrets while sleeping...
Only people asking me about my phobias
I don't like stickers or clear scotch tape that's always in the dispensers.
Of all the things in this world to creep me out terribly...
I feel bad for even saying this, but I can totally imagine a future where your child (if you choose to have one) asks you about why they aren't allowed to have any stickers in the house xX
Haha! Yeah...I don't like when people put stickers on me. I cringe when little ones stick them all over their faces.
I can handle scotch tape though, if its used properly (by properly I mean not stuck to me.).
What are your opinions on duct tape
I love duct tape. It's cool tape.
If I'm going up a hill and I can't see the road past the top of it, I get anxious wondering if the road even continues onto the other side.
I also am terrified of being too deep in the ocean or lakes, but I'm pretty sure that is more common.
Me too! Even though I know it continues.. I know how steep it is.. I do get anxious
Happy I'm not alone (:
I hope you don't live in San Francisco
Lol, definitely not!
I'm in a valley so I'm pretty settled. There's one road on the way out of town that always gets me though.
I'm TERRIFIED of trains and pool drains
They're afraid of you, Inge
Good. theyshould be.
LOL @ ev.
But but but... Trains are sexy
I'm a bit wary when it comes to fungus or molds.
I always get paranoid when I'm driving behind a school bus. Like when's it gonna stop...
When the lights turn yellow and then they turn red...
No! School buses stop without warning! And then they'll put out their flashy little stop signs and you're like "gotta brake gotta brake!"
Or you're distracted and don't notice the little flashing yellow lights. Or DC's school buses are strange. :P But braking is always a good idea!
They're just weird! I hate driving around them!! :)
I've had panic attacks from having things stuck to my hands that I couldn't remove easily (from pizza dough to styrofoam bits), and I am terrified of being in a car too long because I have really severe claustrophobia.
Oh goodness... Imagine you and kris in a super glue factory and you got cotton balls glued into you?!?! :O
And I know a lot of people who have that issue with cars.
Parking under overpasses in traffic. I always get a flash that it'll collapse on me.
