Reintroducing myself to you. I was previously JLove. If you would like to have caps back in your name, just change your name in your profile. Some rules have changed, so proceed with caution.
It works! If you get a message saying that name is already taken, put in another name & save it. Then go back and put in your preferred name with capitalization & it should take. Thank you January. Great suggestion & beautiful name.
Thank you! Care to share the story behind your user name? I know you have particular letters capped for a reason, what is it?
the DJL are my initials. I just wanted a name that sounded techno. At least it did in 1995 when I first started using it on eWorld, the old Apple online service that was much better than AOL, which back then had no clue as how to do anything Mac.
Huh. I tried AOL (and Prodigy before that) & also the Apple thing, but settled on Compuserve as my online world of choice.
I remember Compuserve days. And the good old electronic sound of dial-up Internet that lasted an additional decade or more.
JL, do you remember what forums you were in on CompuServe? Was Cooks Forum one of them? That's where I met the most people face-to-face. But others too. I think I was on the staff of 7 forums at one point. Kinda like getting sucked in here.
Susan - I'm sorry to say that I don't have much memory of Compuserve. It wasn't something I used often. My dad spent a lot of time on it, and we only had the one computer. My memories are more of watching over dad's shoulder, I guess.
I can see how you got sucked in back then, though. Some things never change. ;)
At that time, I was into those online text-based strategy games. *Open the door* *Go North* That sort of thing took up my available computer time.
Ah, I see. No big deal, I just like running into people I might have known there.
I never got into those games much. Just a tiny bit. I liked Myst, though.
I've never played Myst. A cursory glance tells me it appears to be akin to a mythical version of The Sims which means I would probably enjoy it immensely.
I'm off to bed. It's been delightful chatting with you, Susan.
I miss the lack of caps, but I'm not willing to change it to something else. Maybe Tony will fix it… We'll see.
You should be able to get your username back with caps if you go into your profile and reenter it. Many people have had success with this method, but it isn't foolproof.
Mine worked doing it that way.
Go change it to something ELSE & save it; then change back to your former user name with caps however you want them.
You just can't change directly to caps using exactly the same letters. Has to be a 2-step process.
@susanr are you sure that I wouldn't lose my current username if I did the process you recommended?
I did it myself this afternoon and it worked fine. Watch: I'll change to something else. Let me know when you see it.
This is susanr, whatever the user name shows.
For a brief while, I saw SusanBR. Now it's AliceBToklas? Going through an identity crisis, Susan, or just trying to shake people off your trail? ;)
Haha, that one lasted about 30 seconds. I figure it wasn't different enough.
I'll come back & talk to you about Compuserve in a bit. I'm cooking dinner
OK, fiat, I changed to AliceBToklas and confused half the people who know me, & have been fielding questions about that for 2 hours. Had to change back. But note that I now have caps in my name. Others are doing it. You can too.
Yay! I'm back with the correct username!
I like it!
Wish I could have Sakura-chan back :(
Thank you! And I wish you could, too.
^.^ oh well
I like the new name! :)
...so you couldn't keep JLove?
I could have, had I wanted to. When I initially joined, I wanted JanuaryLove, but it was too long so I shortened it to JLove which I've never been quite happy with. Apparently, the parameters have been changed because the long version now fits.
So may I ask the backstory of the full username?
Oh, sure. It's a short story. I married my love one January day, and this has often been my user name ever since. :)
I'm thinking about changing my name too
From what to what?
I changed it now ;S
I figured, since I didn't recognize you. But what were you called before?
sjr93? Or something like that...
Am I right?
Ya srj1993 lol
Pfft. I butchered your name. Sorry.
Oh ur fine suga pie! :)
Well, aren't you a sweetheart? :)
I try too :) lol
I played with it and it wouldn't let me do anything so I'll just wait a few days to try again.
KrisCros said she changed her name twice before the capital letters stuck. Maybe you'll have better luck on your next try, too.
It kept telling me there already was a user by that name. Ya because its me
Sakura-chan was having a similar problem. She thought it was because of the hyphen in her name. I hope you both get it sorted out soon.
Try changing it to something else, and then back to your name.
Hello. Yeah, apparently the new update only allows Alpha-Numerical characters.
Tops - change it to something different. Then change back to TopsQueen & it should go OK.
Hooray! Tops, you're back in business with the capital letters. :)
I like the new(ish) name!!
Jan - I'm glad you found our comments useful. I very much like your new name.
Thank you! :) For both the info and the compliment.
For example, hyphens are apparently no longer allowed in user names. There may have been other changes as well. Previously, my desired handle was too long, so I went with an abbreviated JLove. Now, it is acceptable, so I made the switch.
Thanks to EarlyBird, PuppyLvr, and sakura for this info.
Also, no emoji.
Yeah, the emojis disappeared, though I have seen certain people have some success. Not sure what their secret is. Zimmeress was accused of being a witch last night. ;)
Oh, silly me. Sunshine, you were referring to the emoji in your name! Yeah, I miss that. I enjoyed your happy little sunshine. :)
I miss that little ball or yellow happiness too.
