Taking monarchies and autocracies into comsideration, yes. Our government is a reliable and trustworthy one. Many minds working together to regulate one another prevents drastic crazy decisions being made, even if it makes things slower.

As a whole, yes. Despite the sensationalism, our agencies are typically very efficient and effective. I don't think our branches of government are very reliable anymore.

Our agencies are efficient and effective. Too funny.

They fail at everything they try... They can't keep drugs out of prison, the "war on poverty" produced more poverty, the FDA holds back good drugs, and forces people to take bad ones,

OSHA claims credit for a reduction in workplace injuries that were falling at exactly the same rate as before. No government agency saw the crash of 2008 coming. The Department of Education has shown no measurable results since it's creation in 1979.

The Department of Indian Affairs misplaced $2 billion. Medicare has led to higher costs of care for seniors. 30,000+ people die on government roads each year. Government housing projects are overrun with crime. That's not effective, or efficient.

DrReid Ever present.

It is really easy to make a list whenever the government fails, especially, if you are predisposed to assume the government always fails. The stuff that goes right usually gets taken for granted, that is why it goes unnoticed.

Your preconceived notions regarding the federal government, is the result of spending to much time in the conservative echo chamber, receiving only information that conforms with your beliefs. Our agencies, do the best with what they have...

The difference is that liberals demand government to confiscate and redistribute wealth to fund charity. Conservatives probably give ten fold more to the poor than the feel good liberals. We do it on our own, not by cowering to government force.
