I feel better getting the ticket from a cop than receiving a letter containing a ticket and picture of myself behind the wheel at some random intersection.
Of course I wouldn't like it if I'm the one getting a ticket, but when I see some wreckless driver going 90 plus weaving between lanes it does make me feel safer to see him pulled over a few miles down the road.
If there were no penalties imposed for reckless driving, there would be far more road deaths. So, again no I don't like getting a ticket, but accept the rules of living in society.
Your question wasn't specific about speeding, it just said "a ticket", and my comment was about reckless drivers which would still be illegal on the autobahn therefore no, it is not the antithesis of civilization.
Actually, @rebelfury76, I won't give a cop a break that I wouldn't give a citizen who asked for the same. I also don't ask for breaks, but make a point of driving the speed limit (which is a huge part of the 39mpg I get on my commute).
When I get speeding tickets, no. Go find someone dealing hard drugs or trying to hurt or rob someone. Not someone trying to get to work or school on time.
