Macaroni with shell noodles? I think we should designate a single noodle style (or invent a totally unheard-of shape) and call it "macaroni noodle."

Agreed, shells hold more cheese. Incidentally, anyone notice how there's a bunch of "shell" states clustered together there?

Velveeta shells...
Now I'm hungry. :(

Shells. They hold the cheese better. Vegan cheese of course. :) almond or soy cheese.

Pasta is pasta no matter the shape.

Anyone who wants to make great Mac and cheese: add whole peppercorns and feta cheese. It's the best decision you'll ever make. But shells for me.

Elbows for Mac and cheese, but shekels for soup. They make great little spoons.

Shell, the sauce gets inside the shell better

All though I don't eat mac and cheese anymore, since it's not very healthy... pasta covered in cheese :/

08/04/12 2:37 pm

For mac and cheese, shells. Elbows or other for anything else.

I like the elbow noodles better

I make baked macaroni and cheese from scratch and I use elbow macaroni. I've been told it was the best ever tasted, but believe it or not, one of my favorites is at Panera's restaurant and they use shells. It's good.

I like them both but I love shell pasta. I've never had it in Mac and cheese though...

I agree cowboy has no soul, but it's not because he dislikes Mac and cheese. It's because he's a communist spy sent here from mother Russia, he would rather have old leather and borsch.... Hahahaha j/k

Shells are better for tuna pasta salad though.

Shells are much easier to get on a gork

Apparently, Cowboy, that is what makes one have a soul. News to me!!
Anyways, elbows, bc anyone who eats shells doesn't have a soul. :P

Velveta Shells! Definitely not the same

I love the immature insults from the kids! "I don't have a soul"? Really? Because I'm a man and don't eat mac and cheese? I can only shake my head at these kids.

What?! Come on people! Easily shells.

Depends on the cheese you use. If you use the gross velveeta cheeses, or some other thick liquid cheese sauce...shells.
If you use shredded cheese (and béchamel sauce)...elbow macaroni.

Oh my gosh!!! There are people who don't like macaroni and cheese!!! Have you ever had homemade?? I agree that the boxed stuff is nasty and I won't eat it. But homemade is sooo good!!! Toss in some yummy cheese like Gouda, havarti, fresh mozzarella and sharp cheddar. It's not your average stuff!

Give me whatever; I love Mac and cheese!!!

Shells are the best. The cheese sauce gets stuck in the bowl shape. I need food now...

08/04/12 7:14 am

Shells, elbow noodle fall off my spoon to easily.

08/04/12 7:05 am

Mac n cheese w shells is the best. Throw a homegrown tomato on top for some extra deliciousness

@EarlyBird have you ever had a burger? How about French Fries? Or Potato Chips? Or Coke? etc. It's just another unhealthy big time American cuisine food type that a ton of folks like.

But I like shells homemade, packaged, or cooked at a restaurant over elbows in any environment.

I've only had mac and cheese about 3 in my life. I think all 3 times it had elbow mac. I don't understand the love affair a lot of people seem to have with it.
