Did you drink alcohol before you were of legal age?
Alabama and Mississippi surprised me. JESUS ALMIGHTY CHRIST WOULD NOT APPROVE, HEATHENS!
This poll is going to be messed up a little bit with the under 21/high school crowd not having full exposure to it. Also the over 40 crowd had a different drinking age for beer.
I turned 21 in Korea serving in the Army. I always thought it was ridiculous that service men and women could kill and die for their country, but could not order a beer.
Not regularly. I've only had a small glass of champagne on a few New Years, a sip of wine at my aunt's wedding, and I accidentally drank like a quarter of a bottle of beer before I realized it wasn't cream soda. Only the wine was actually good.
To be fair, the drinking age was 19 when I graduated from high school. I wasn't as much of a stretch or a big deal to drink before 21.
19 makes much more sense than 21... Trust me the legal age isn't stopping anyone and isn't making anything better or safer on college kids.
I think colleges have come to the conclusion it's better to not enforce the drinking age.
I'll be 21 in December and have only recently had my first drinks of alcohol. Hahah. I can count on one hand the number of drinks I've had. This might be why all my friends are looking forward to my birthday...
I was terrified to do *anything* "wrong" by my biological parents. Even when I didn't do a single thing, a sibling lied to say I did it when I had no clue about it. Drinking age used to be 18 my time before law changed it to 21. I'm not a drinker.
I chose no. But, I did drive up to Wisconsin a lot, where the legal age was 18 at the time.
How would I survive college otherwise?
Not much, but my parents let me have a drink now and again for special occasions. But I didn't hang out much with the drinking crowd.
I remember a bunch of us driving to the Kansas border to buy 3.2 beer.
Not on purpose... Spiked punch at a wedding. And spiked eggnog at an official party for city employees.
Yes - but only once
Hm, I wonder what the inspiration for this poll was...
I've tasted it. But haven't drank much
Tasting a few sips doesn't count in my mind, so, no I haven't. When I travel out of the country and it's legal there, I'll drink a bit. :)
The sip of wine yes. To actually have a drink no.
It depends. Technically, it is legal for those who are underage to drink alcohol with parents' permission on private property. I've had wine for Shabbat with my family and a Mike's Hard. Then in Mexico I had alcohol when I was 18.
