Edward Snowden is reportedly seeking asylum in Russia. He "may" have lots of secrets and documents to share with them that haven't yet been revealed. Should the US have him killed?

Hell no! He is a hero even if you don't like him for exposing government violations you should let him have his right to a trial as to avoid a secondary government violation of our constitution.

This is a toughie. If it can be proven that he actually has spilled the beans and turned over vital security information, then perhaps.

But there's no proof at this point that he's done that, so killing him would be a violation of his Fifth and Fourteenth Amendment rights.

If we have to. I'd much prefer to see him abducted and made to stand trial.

"If we have to", expanded definition: If he has sensitive intelligence he may yet share with enemies of our nation, and cannot reasonably be expected to be vulnerable to live capture and removal to the US.

The 5th Amendment says "No person shall... be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law". This clearly answers the question.

I just have a gut feeling that China didn't help him for nothing. As for Putin, he probably has what he wants or Snowden would be dead. If Putin would risk relations stealing a SB ring, imprison Pussy Riot & others, Aid Sryia he'd do anything he can.

No man, or group of men, has the right to determine who has or does not have the right to life. I don't care what rule anyone broke. If you murdered half the planet, you have the right to life. *hinds behind desk*

I'm not in the habit of suggesting anyone be killed, even child rapists as seems to be the vogue these days, but certainly not a near-hero like Snowden.

What he's revealed thus far wasn't anything anybody didn't already know and I'm suspecting he doesn't know squat about anything else. I think he's an attention seeker. Nothing more.

Now he has presidents in 2 dozen countries referring to him by name and he's a world-known person.

All he wanted.

Snowden has had plenty of time to share whatever he has with whoever he wants. Killing him wouldn't make whatever he took with him any more secure.

Whatever he has is a bargaining chip.

Notwithstanding the PR impact and the pros and cons of killing him, I believe this is exactly the textbook scenario where a CIA hit is appropriate. This particular case, however, is too high profile in the media for Mr O to authorize it.

He reportedly has info that we spied on the EU. No way this guy was an average NSA worker. He was a plant. He planned on doing this from day one. Don't kill him at first....

You'd be surprised what a person with a TS/SCI at the NSA can gain access to.

Although, he was a plant. He purposely sought out employment with intent to steal and distribute classified information.

He should be extradited (or extracted) and tried in public. When found guilty he should spend life without parole.

Hunting him down and eliminating him would do far more harm to our image at home and abroad than anything.

I don't think it's really appropriate to kill someone who "may" have some classified information. Even if we knew for sure that he did have info like that, I don't think we're justified to kill him.
