As of today, it is now illegal to sell or purchase shark fins. Good law or bad?
I'd be okay with it if the sharks were farmed.
Oops. I left out an important bit of info in the question. It's a CA law.
Very good law!
That's a thing? What?
Shark fin soup. Popular in Asian cultures & CA was the largest market outside of Asia.
Have you seen how they cut them off? It's not right.
I know. It's horrible.
We have irresponsible international fisherman coming within the boundaries of our waters rapeing our waters now. We plant fish and grow them they come stealing. Enough already. That would make matters worse.
Oh dyslexia strikes again I miss read the question. Yes I'm glad it is illegal.
Good, now I can sell a pencil for $$$ and with every pencil you get a shark fun freeeeeee
I mean I hate more gov but at the same time I would rather the ocean ecosystem not get poached by us completely ruining everything. Sharks are friends not gift shop toys
I've only heard the arguments in favor of making it illegal to be honest.
The only argument I've hard against it was the law only outlaws the fins, not the meat or the skins so it's not an appropriate law. Since they're primarily fished for the fins, I'm ok with it not being an all inclusive law.
