Do you celebrate the "Fourth of July" or "Independence Day"?
It's son's birthday so July 4th has brought on a whole new meaning (he's turning 1 on Thursday)
I celebrate Independence Day, I call it the Fourth of July, and it actually lasts from late June to early August.
Interesting question Zod - when you think about there really is a difference
Most of my family calls it the 4th, but I like saying Independence Day so it won't lose its meaning.
what my father calls
'Blow Sht Up Day' ;)
LOL - I think my husband would enjoy calling it that
My dad is a creative old fart, used to be in the airforce, so he's crafty.
Have fond childhood memories of him shooting my mums tupperware 40 ft in the sky.
The sale ads in the paper and on TV seem more or less evenly split between calling it the 4th or Independence Day. The 4th seems less formal, and it's all I've ever used, "happy 4th" or "enjoy your 4th", etc. It's our only holiday with two names.
The 4th. Technically, I don't celebrate since I haven't done anything for it since I was a little kid and still liked fireworks.
Although I know the meaning and celebrate this country's Independence Day, I always say to people: Happy 4th!
I think I'm the same way. I'm always aware of why we're celebrating, but I don't ever remember referring to it by its formal name.
I remember it as the night I got eaten by mosquitos. Last year was my first 4th in the USA and I got devoured while outside watching fireworks. My body seemed to have quite an adverse reaction, took over a month for the swelling to go down.
That sucks! You must be allergic--my brother is the same way, giant red spots. Bug spray this year, my friend :)
Yes, I always get completely eaten up on the fourth.
I celebrate it as more of a birthday of sorts. We were in Kirkuk in 2003 and a mortar landed 10 meters from us and didn't explode while we were celebrating the 4th of July. If it had I probably wouldn't be here or would be missing some parts
Well then it should be a day of Thanksgiving too I'm thankful you are here for such a wonderful person.
:) you're always so sweet. I'm humbled by your kindness ❤❤❤
I'm glad you're here!
Saying "Independence Day" always makes me think of the movie...which makes me think of the alien killing that scientist--the scene that gave me nightmares as a kid haha
The 4th. I can't wait either. Going to to beach and to my yacht club. Than I'm taking the boat out.
I Southbelt celebrate telling England where to go. I celebrate the Fourth of July. I celebrate Independence Day and I celebrate my birthday
Celebrate. Silly cat wants to sit practically on my chin.
That's right, it's your birthday also. why not celebrate all week!
I stopped having birthdays at 50, I now have anniversaries of my 50th.
4th of July. I never really treated it as a patriotic holiday, it's more of an excuse to blow things up.
